Embedded Software Engineer Job Description

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer for a 15-week contract position requiring onsite presence 2-4 days per week, depending on client's needs. In this role, you will work directly with our client to develop, implement, and test embedded software solutions for their critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-performance software modules in Python, C, and/or C++ for integration with existing control hardware systems
- Develop and optimize low-level, multi-threaded applications for high-throughput data processing and capture in real-time environments
- Collaborate in the design of software system architecture to support modern GPU and CPU processing pipelines
- Prototype and validate key interface mechanisms between legacy hardware and modern compute platforms during early development phases
- Contribute to the development of a data capture and analysis subsystem leveraging Windows server infrastructure, GPU acceleration, and custom capture hardware
- Assist in the implementation of software components for signal interpretation, synchronization, and validation using modern programming practices
- Conduct performance tuning and system-level profiling to eliminate bottlenecks in data acquisition and analysis pipelines
- Document code and system behavior to support handoff, collaboration, and long-term maintainability
Embedded Software Engineer Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in embedded software development
- Proficiency in Python, C/C++ programming for embedded systems
- Experience with version control systems (Git preferred)
- Hardware/Software system architecture skills for high throughput systems
- Experience optimizing low level systems
- Experience in multi-threading / multi-tasking application development
- Familiarity with debugging tools and techniques, testing and observability for embedded systems
Nice to Have Qualifications
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Experience with Signal processing
- Knowledge of CUDA
- Understanding of power management techniques for embedded systems
- Knowledge of packet capture (PCAP) techniques
- Experience with TCP/IP (implementing protocols, managing network connections, synchronizing data transmission)
- Experience with State Machine programming
- Knowledge of 2D vector graphics/rasterization
- Demonstrated experience integrating systems HTTP API and SDKs
