About the Role

We are a fast-growing fintech and SaaS portfolio operating across payments, lending, and enterprise software with multiple operating entities. As the business scales in complexity and opportunity, we are intentionally re-architecting how finance operates.

This role is not for a traditional CFO who maintains legacy accounting processes.
We are seeking a modern, AI-forward financial leader who will fundamentally transform accounting and finance to deliver real-time financial clarity, predictive insight, and strategic decision support.

This role is ideal for a CFO who is energized by building and impatient with unnecessary bureaucracy. Someone who believes strong controls, speed, and clarity can coexist, and that finance should enable decisions, not slow them down.

You will have the autonomy to simplify, modernize, and accelerate finance, without layers of bureaucracy standing in the way.

What You Will Own

Real-Time Financial Clarity

  • Ensure budgets, cash flow, forecasts, and dashboards are always current, accurate, and decision-ready
  • Eliminate reliance on outdated or lagging financial information
  • Build systems that provide leadership with near real-time visibility into performance

AI-Driven Finance Transformation

  • Redesign accounting and finance workflows to make AI and automation the default, not an experiment
  • Reduce manual accounting effort through close automation, AI-assisted reconciliations, anomaly detection, and automated variance analysis
  • Implement AI-driven forecasting, scenario modeling, and dashboards
  • Ensure finance output scales without proportional increases in headcount

Financial Drivers & Accountability

  • Define, implement, and enforce KPIs tied to growth, margin, retention, unit economics, reserves, and risk
  • Design and track leading indicators, not just lagging metrics
  • Hold functional leaders accountable for their financial impact
  • Align the organization around a clear financial north star

Profitability & Growth Enablement

  • Proactively identify opportunities to reduce spend, improve margins, optimize pricing, and unlock new revenue pathways
  • Bring solutions and recommendations, not just reports
  • Support strategic initiatives with clear financial tradeoffs and quantified outcomes

Risk Anticipation & Protection

  • Anticipate financial, operational, regulatory, and concentration risks before they materialize
  • Stress-test assumptions and models regularly
  • Ensure the organization is protected as it scales across regulated and high-risk environments

Scalable Systems & Strong Controls

  • Implement financial infrastructure that scales ahead of growth
  • Strengthen internal controls while increasing speed and flexibility
  • Maintain audit readiness across all entities
  • Eliminate errors, rework, and fragile manual processes

Team Leadership & Financial IQ

  • Lead and develop the existing accounting and finance team with high expectations
  • Elevate the team from execution-focused to insight-driven
  • Continuously redesign roles and workflows to eliminate low-value manual work
  • Raise the financial IQ of leaders across the organization so better decisions happen everywhere

CEO Strategic Partnership

  • Serve as the CEO’s primary financial thought partner
  • Translate data into insight, scenarios, and clear recommendations
  • Guide capital allocation and clarify tradeoffs before decisions are made
  • Anticipate leadership needs rather than reacting to them

Capital, Banking & Portfolio Optimization

  • Architect banking and capital strategy to ensure liquidity never constrains growth
  • Build and maintain strong banking and financial partner relationships
  • Optimize cash flow, intercompany structures, and consolidated reporting across all entities
  • Design tax-efficient and portfolio-optimized financial structures

Strategic Readiness

  • Evaluate and model acquisitions, partnerships, and portfolio opportunities
  • Ensure the company is always ready to move quickly when opportunity arises

Who We’re Looking For

You are likely a strong fit if you:

  • Have a bias for action, clarity, and accountability
  • Have scaled finance in fintech, SaaS, payments, lending, or multi-entity environments
  • Have built FP&A, forecasting, and KPI frameworks from scratch
  • Have shortened close cycles and modernized finance operations
  • Are frustrated by slow, over-bureaucratic environments and believe finance should move quickly without sacrificing control
  • Have a low tolerance for manual, low-leverage work and actively seek to eliminate it through automation and AI
  • Believe finance should lead change, not react to it
  • Are hands-on, decisive, and comfortable operating with ambiguity

This Role Is Not a Fit If

  • You prefer approval-heavy, highly bureaucratic environments
  • You are most comfortable maintaining existing systems rather than redesigning them
  • You believe strong controls require slow execution
  • You are not personally motivated to rethink how finance operates in an AI-driven world

What Success Looks Like (12 Months)

  • Books consistently closed within 5–7 days
  • Leadership has real-time visibility into financial performance
  • KPIs and leading indicators drive decision-making across the organization
  • Rolling forecasts and scenario models inform strategy
  • Finance operates with significantly less manual effort
  • AI is embedded into daily finance operations
  • Finance is viewed as a strategic, predictive partner, not a reporting function
