Who are you?
As the Director, Business Development at Venn, you’ll lead and scale our BDR organization (currently ~5 BDRs) and build a pipeline engine. This role owns inbound conversion and outbound execution, working closely with Sales and Demand Generation to drive a consistent, high-quality pipeline.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is passionate about BDR development, coaching calls, tightening talk tracks, improving conversion rates, and building the operating cadence that keeps pipeline predictable and scalable. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves talking to people, and wants to build a strong foundation in Business Development.
We’ll count on you to...
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop BDRs into consistent top performers
- Establish a strong coaching cadence through call reviews, role plays, objection handling, and messaging drills
- Set clear expectations and accountability across daily activity, quality, and outcomes
- Build career paths and performance plans that retain top talent and elevate the entire team
- Step in as a player-coach when needed to model execution and unblock results
- Own outbound strategy across key segments and verticals (Financial Services, Healthcare, Legal, and BPO)
- Translate Venn’s positioning into repeatable outbound plays, including: SalesLoft cadences, talk tracks and objection handling, Email templates, LinkedIn patterns, and voicemail drops
- Run high-intensity execution moments such as call blitzes, thematic weeks, event-based pushes, and competitive takeout plays
- Own the BDR funnel end-to-end: activity → connects → conversations → meetings booked → meetings completed → qualified meetings
- Maintain rigorous reporting and dashboards in HubSpot (strong preference) and outreach tooling
- Use data to continuously optimize targeting, list quality, messaging, and conversion rates
Establish a strong operating rhythm through weekly performance reviews and “game film” reviews
What You Will Bring:
- 8+ years of experience in B2B SaaS revenue organizations, including 2+ years managing BDR/SDR teams
- Proven success building and scaling outbound pipeline in a mid-market and/or enterprise motion
- Strong hiring instincts and a coaching-first leadership style
- Deep comfort with metrics, dashboards, and funnel management
- Experience with HubSpot (required or strongly preferred) and SalesLoft (preferred)
- Ability to translate a category narrative into clear, confident, buyer-relevant messaging
- High ownership, integrity, and bias toward action in a fast-moving startup environment
