Job Title:                 Chief Finance Officer

The Opportunity


We are searching for an experienced Chief Financial Officer. The CFO will have a day-to-day, ongoing impact on organizational operations, helping us to analyze, strategize, and grow our financial position. This seasoned strategist will be familiar with current accounting practices and trends and have future-focused experience, including forecasting, capacity planning and development of new revenue models. This leader will have experience in a complex high growth environment, including global regulations and financial strategies in the private and non-profit sectors. As a member of the executive team, the CFO will be comfortable in a leadership role that requires effective communication, management, and collaboration skills. 

 

Specific functions you will be responsible for leading...  

 

Financial Management – Ensuring that Verra's financial transactions, policies, and procedures meet our short and long-term business objectives and are conducted in in accordance with regulations, accounting principles, and standards throughout budgeting, forecasting, auditing, and payroll.

  • Coordinating the development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets.
  • Ensuring cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization.
  • Working with senior leaders to efficiently develop budget proposals.
  • Responsibility for all cash management, investments, insurance, and solutions for the organization’s financial needs and goals.

 

Strategic Planning – Thought leadership and execution of long-term financial planning and forecasting, risk management, and investment strategies.

  • Developing and implementing best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows. 
  • Researching revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identifying areas for cost reduction and process enhancement. 

 

Financial Reporting – Preparing and communicating monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring the timely reporting of key financial data and updates to our executive leadership team, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders.

  • Creating visibility and highlighting our future financial position.
  • Providing access to project finance information and ensuring contract/grant compliance and reporting. 

 

Compliance – Ensuring legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions. This will include tax planning and compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.

  • Complying with global, national, and local country financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and recommending/taking appropriate action. 

 

Leadership – Providing direction to the Finance team (including two directors), with a focus on training and professional development.

  • Representing Verra through speaking opportunities, conferences, and other to highlight the organization and its work as needed. 

 

Risk Management - Performing risk management through analysis of organization liabilities and investments and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives. 

 

You bring with you...


  • 15+ years of experience in financial executive leadership roles with a master's degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business accounting, or finance. MBA preferred.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  • Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning within our industry.
  • Demonstrated skills and qualifications for managing a global Finance organization.
  • Experience in private sector and non-profit stakeholder relations; bonus points for experience with climate finance.
  • Executive experience with applicable business models and their associated revenue recognition.
  • Professional certification (ex: Certified Public Accountant)
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical skills, organization, and ability to create and evolve solution strategy based and research, data, and industry trends. 
  • Strong entrepreneur drive, innovative strategist, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a rapid growth organization working cross-functionally with teams delivering global programs.

Compensation at Verra


To help us attract and retain top talent, Verra pays employees competitively in the market. In return, we expect each employee to, at a minimum:

The final compensation offered will be contingent upon role, level, and location. Our Talent team can share the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

 

We will recognize employees who go beyond expected performance with salary increases and/or promotions, but the bar for earning those rewards is high.


Salary is one component of Verra’s total compensation package which also includes:


  • Health, vision and dental care, and life insurance;
