Title: Digital MRV Solutions Specialist
Work location: Remote with the U.S.
Reports to: Senior Director, Technology Solutions
Verra is a global leader helping to tackle the world’s most intractable environmental and llenges. As a mission-driven non-profit organization, Verra is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving livelihoods, and protecting natural resources across the private and public sectors. We support climate action and sustainable development with standards, tools and programs that credibly, transparently, and robustly assess environmental and social impacts. We work in any area where we see a need for clear standards, a role for market-based mechanisms and an opportunity to generate significant environmental and social value.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Digital MRV Solutions Specialist to assist in advancing state-of-the-art digitalized carbon methodologies and tools for measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) with a specific focus on nature-based climate solutions. Our commitment to integrity, collaboration, and measurable impact sets us apart in the nonprofit sector. Join us in making a positive impact on the world.
The Role.
The Digital MRV Solutions Specialist will play a critical role in advancing Verra’s Digital Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (DMRV) program and broader trust infrastructure. The role primarily involves translating existing nature-based methodologies (Forestry and Agriculture) to digital prototypes with fully functional test datasets. Designing, testing, reviewing, and operational deployment of the digital methodologies are part of everyday tasks. This role also supports API enabled integrations and data-centric project review systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, a strong commitment to sustainable development, and a proven ability to support the development and execution of robust, scalable digital tools.
The Digital MRV Solutions Specialist will contribute across the full digital project lifecycle by working closely with internal technology teams, methodology developers, and external platform providers. This includes defining and assessing API-based integrations between third-party DMRV systems, Verra’s Project Hub, and the Verra Registry to ensure data integrity, traceability, and audit readiness. The role will also support Verra’s transition from document-centric reviews to data-centric, system-based reviews by helping embed validation, verification, and reconciliation logic directly into digital workflows, strengthening transparency and operational integrity.
The role will further support the evaluation and responsible application of AI-enabled tools such as data extraction, anomaly detection, consistency checks, and digital review support to improve the efficiency and scalability of methodology implementation and project reviews. Working closely with engineers, methodology teams, and other stakeholders, the Digital MRV Solutions Specialist will help define appropriate controls for these tools (e.g., when human review is required, how exceptions are handled, and how results are documented) and ensure they are fit for purpose in operational workflows.
We are seeking a dynamic individual with strong interpersonal skills and relevant experience working with practitioners who implement activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve livelihoods. The role involves supporting nature-based climate solutions stakeholders by translating technical requirements into clear guidance, surfacing implementation challenges early, and helping teams iterate on digital workflows based on user feedback.
This position requires a thorough understanding of carbon quantification tools and methodologies, with experience supporting their digitalization. Responsibilities include reviewing, verifying, and validating digital methodologies; supporting project and pilot reviews; and developing clear, practical guidance to help users implement digital and DMRV-based approaches. The ideal candidate is a dependable and collaborative team player who takes ownership of deliverables and works effectively across organizational boundaries.
The opportunity.
In this role, the Digital MRV Solutions Specialist helps maintain quality and consistency for Verra’s digital methodologies and DMRV-enabled project workflows. The position supports the review of concept notes, feasibility assessments, and detailed methodologies to ensure both theoretical soundness and practical feasibility for digital implementation. Working within cross-functional teams, the role bridges innovation and execution by translating emerging technologies into robust, operational solutions that integrate with DMRV systems and the Verra Registry.
The Digital MRV Solutions Specialist contributes to the design and validation of digital specifications, supports rigorous testing of digital methodologies, and helps drive consistent implementation across projects. The role participates in project and pilot reviews by assessing digitally submitted project descriptions, monitoring data, and verification outputs, including the evaluation of automated checks, system-generated results, and flagged issues. In addition, the position helps define and refine repeatable review criteria for digital and AI-assisted workflows, while identifying gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities observed during pilots and early implementations.
What we’d like to see.
· Experience with GHG accounting and methodologies, demonstrated by data-modeling skills for structured and semi-structured datasets, preferably in nature-based climate solutions.
· Demonstrated experience or strong familiarity with DMRV systems, digital data pipelines, and technology-enabled MRV solutions, including API-driven systems, data schemas, and peer-to-peer integrations in regulated, standards-based, or assurance environments.
· Strong understanding of the end-to-end carbon project lifecycle, including data ingestion, quantification and calculation, validation, verification, issuance, and post-issuance monitoring, with the ability to translate business, scientific, or policy requirements into practical technical solutions.
· Practical experience supporting or integrating AI-assisted tools/workflows used in operational systems, such as document analysis, ingestion and extraction, data validation, classification, anomaly detection and quality control, and risk scoring, combined with a solid understanding of AI/ML concepts and the ability to assess the appropriateness, limitations, and integrity implications of automation.
· At least five years of relevant professional experience, preferably within a standards organization, carbon project developers, validation/verification bodies, or DMRV providers, with hands-on experience working with environmental, geospatial, IoT, or remote sensing data such as sensor feeds, satellite imagery, and project activity datasets.
· A technical degree in a relevant field such as agriculture, forestry, engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline.
· Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize effectively and work efficiently under deadlines.
· A high level of digital and analytical literacy, including experience working with models and tools such as Excel and other analytical or data management platforms (e.g., GIS or statistical tools); the ability to write basic programming or scripting languages is an asset.
· Demonstrated cultural awareness and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and partners across diverse countries and contexts.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English is required, and fluency in additional languages is an asset.
