Title:   Program Officer, Afforestation, Reforestation, Revegetation (ARR)

Location:   Remote  - Worldwide (with significant overlap with U.S. business hours

Reports to:   Senior Manager, Forest Carbon Innovation   


The Opportunity:

 

Verra seeks a Program Officer to actively engage stakeholders in adopting and using our new Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) methodology. This role focuses on developing and supporting project proponents’ practical application of ARR practices, leading revisions of the ARR methodology, and creating alignment with other methodologies (e.g., the Methodology for Improved Agricultural Land Management) and programs, such as SD VISta and its Nature Framework.


The Role:

 

The successful applicant will be responsible for work that includes:

  • Guiding the ARR methodology revision process by working with a range of stakeholders
  • Presenting the methodology on webinars and to stakeholder groups to provide technical guidance on its use
  • Supporting Verra’s Regional Engagement team to provide country/region-specific training
  • Responding to stakeholder questions about the methodology
  • Developing a suite of informational resources, including FAQs and instructional webinars, to clearly explain how to use the ARR methodology
  • Leading the development of a process for existing projects to use the new ARR methodology
  • Managing forest management-related updates to the VCS Standard

You will join a team that works closely and collaboratively to solve problems, iterate, and implement improvements to forest carbon methodologies and the VCS Standard.

What We’re Looking For:

 

  • At least three years of relevant GHG accounting
  • A degree in forestry, environmental sciences, or similar
  • Basic understanding of remote sensing in the context of forest carbon stock monitoring
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to simplify complex concepts
  • Project management and organizational skills, including prioritizing and working efficiently and effectively under deadlines
  • Ability to engage with diverse international stakeholders and partners, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and awareness in a global context
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a problem-solving mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English is essential

For this position, the salary range is between 57,225 - 77,360 USD. The compensation band is based on a U.S. base salary range and shares the min and max base salary for the position. This position is eligible for remote work.

 

The final compensation will be contingent upon role, level, and location. Our Talent team can share the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Salary is one component of Verra’s total compensation package which also includes:
