We support climate action and sustainable development with standards, tools, and programs that credibly, transparently, and robustly assess environmental and social impacts and enable funding for sustaining and scaling up projects that verifiably deliver these benefits. The Opportunity

With environmental and social actions growing rapidly and attracting public and media attention, Verra is seeking a digital communications professional to help scale up our work and increase our organization's impact.

The perfect candidate will be a dynamic, organized, and detail-oriented self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine enthusiasm for digital communications. We offer a supportive work environment and unparalleled opportunities for professional growth in the environmental communications ecosystem. We thrive on collaboration across practices and organizational boundaries, creating a tight-knit group of professionals working together to effect substantial change.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Content, this role will tackle a large array of digital communications tasks as follows:

Social Media:
  • Plan and implement a social media strategy, developing objectives, timelines, and work plans, using a mix of organic and paid tactics across multiple platforms (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn). Prepare all content for clearance by senior staff. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders as appropriate. Ensure timely execution of all planned activities.
  • Assess the effectiveness of social media activities: Review social media analytics; determine indicative metrics and indicators of success; identify lessons learned to enhance future efforts.
  • Monitor social media traffic: Conduct comprehensive monitoring of social media traffic about the organization and its areas of work; escalate issues that are spotted; advise on possible responses; and implement follow-up activities. Stay updated with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices to ensure the brand remains at the forefront of the digital landscape.
  • Develop compelling social media collateral, including videos, graphics, and text, in collaboration with others. Conceptualize standalone social media campaigns and posts. Leverage storytelling techniques to drive brand awareness, engagement, and loyalty.
  • Support staff social media needs: advise staff on best practices for using social media and work with staff to help amplify organizational messages.
Communications Production:
  • Plan and implement a newsletter and stakeholder communications strategy, developing objectives, timelines, and work plans. Prepare all content for clearance by senior staff. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders as appropriate. Ensure timely execution of all planned activities.
  • Manage stakeholder email lists and disseminate information through various communication formats, including e-newsletters and internal email updates.
  • Organize, curate, and catalog our communications assets (photos, b-roll, testimonials, talking points) while identifying gaps in our collection and deploying assets so they can be used effectively at relevant moments.
  • Support additional communications and marketing activities in collaboration with other Verra teams and staff members, such as preparing for and organizing events.
  • Support high-profile organizational external webinars: set up the session in Zoom; provide administrative background support; and offer follow-up support (posting on YouTube, modifying follow-up emails).
What we’d like to see
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, advertising, marketing, business, or a related field
  • 5+ years’ experience working in digital communications with demonstrated successes in social media management, creative and analytical copywriting, collateral creation, and other tasks outlined above
  • Strong attention to detail, with an interest in, and aptitude for, proofreading text, ensuring image permissions, and checking links
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English is essential
  • Strong organizational skills and self-discipline to be able to prioritize and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines in an independent manner
  • Ability to maintain a professional approach and demeanor in high-pressure situations and to work with stakeholders and partners from different countries and cultures
  • Experience writing in a variety of styles and with attention to detail
  • While not required, experience with video/audio production and editing, graphic design, photo editing, and corresponding software such as Adobe Creative Suite is highly desired
