We are actively looking for a Payroll Specialist that will:
Responsibilities:
- Process biweekly payroll runs and off-cycle payments for employees and independent contractors
- Review and validate timesheets, deductions, and tax information to ensure accurate pay
- Assist with payroll system updates, testing, and troubleshooting
- Maintain payroll records in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
- Assist with wage garnishments, benefit and 401(k) deductions, and related reconciliations
- Support regular audits of payroll data, controls, and processes
- Collaborate with internal teams including Human Resources, Finance, and Operations to ensure accuracy and alignment across systems
- Assist with payroll system updates, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of payroll processes
- Proactively contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance payroll efficiency and service delivery
Requirements
- 3–5 years of payroll experience in a multi-state, distributed workforce environment and a deep knowledge of payroll tax
- Familiarity with payroll compliance regulations including wage and hour laws, garnishments, and tax withholdings
- Hands-on experience using Rippling (or similar systems) preferred
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business, or a related field preferred; relevant certifications (e.g., FPC, CPP) are a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to change
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, tax, and deduction laws.
