Here’s What You’ll Be Doing
- Process payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring accurate and timely pay for hourly and salaried employees.
- Maintain payroll records, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, garnishments, and deductions.
- Audit payroll inputs for accuracy (hours worked, PTO, commissions/bonuses if applicable, reimbursements, etc.) and resolve discrepancies proactively.
- Manage payroll calendars, cutoffs, and approvals—communicating clearly with stakeholders to prevent last-minute fire drills.
Benefits, Taxes & Compliance Support
- Support payroll-related benefits deductions and coordinate with internal partners and benefit providers as needed.
- Assist with payroll tax processes (multi-state where applicable), filings, and year-end activities including W-2 preparation support.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, wage/hour requirements, and record retention standards.
- Help maintain accurate documentation for audits, reporting, and internal controls.
Employee Experience & Service
- Serve as a go-to resource for payroll questions with a high level of discretion, empathy, and professionalism.
- Investigate and resolve payroll issues promptly, keeping employees informed and closing the loop with clear communication.
- Partner with HR on policy interpretation related to pay practices, PTO, leaves, and timekeeping.
Reporting, Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in payroll administration and accounting support.
- Strong experience with commissions, payroll processing, and HR compliance.
- Proficiency in NetSuite, Rippling, and payroll best practices.
- Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
