The Substitute Teacher provides instructional and educational needs for students, ensuring an environment where students experience success in the classroom by adapting content material for various levels. This position uses a variety of teaching methods to facilitate the learning process, developing and evaluating daily differentiated lesson plans that correspond to approved curriculum for various functioning levels of students. The Teacher must possess considerable skills in the remediation of classroom behaviors and the ability to present as an appropriate adult role model.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for establishing and enforcing rules of behavior for students in the classroom.
  • Demonstrates competence in teaching by demonstrating current, thorough knowledge of academic curriculum as specified, and is able to communicate effectively with students.
  • Organizes classroom learning and materials to maximize student time on tasks, motivating student learning.
  • Uses effective methods of evaluation that are directly related to curriculum objectives and to concepts and skills taught; consistently, clearly, and effectively evaluate student progress.
  • Cooperates with the student’s multi disciplinary team; working effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information, displays sound judgment in dress and general behavior, following dress code standards.
  • Demonstrates professional responsibility by enforcing VQ policies and procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the behavioral sciences, education, human services or social services field.
  • Teaching certification by relevant government authority is preferred but not required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 year of age or older.
  • Cleared background checks from appropriate entities.
  • Obtain and maintain First Aid Certification (CPR).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Up to $18.00 per hour
