About the role

Vermeer Southeast is seeking a driven and customer focused Equipment Sales Representative to support our Underground Equipment product line. This position is responsible for driving equipment sales within the Southwest Florida territory including Charlotte, Glades, Lee, Hendry, and Collier counties. The role involves planning and executing sales strategies, prospecting new business, managing customer accounts, and coordinating the sale and delivery of both new and used equipment. This position will report to our Fort Myers location.


What you'll do

Marketing and Sales:

  • Market and sell new and used Vermeer underground equipment, including horizontal directional drills, trenchers, vacuum excavation units, and related tooling.
  • Plan and execute territory-specific sales strategies to meet or exceed annual sales goals.
  • Prospect new accounts while maintaining and growing existing customer relationships.
  • Conduct needs-based interviews to recommend the right equipment solutions.
  • Demonstrate, negotiate, and close equipment sales while maintaining strong profit margins.
  • Follow up promptly on all leads, quotes, and customer inquiries.
  • Participate in trade shows, industry events, and customer demonstrations within the underground construction market.

Customer Satisfaction:

  • Interact with customers professionally, courteously, and promptly.
  • Provide solutions to enhance equipment performance and address customer concerns.
  • Coordinate and conduct equipment demonstrations for qualified customers.
  • Assist with customer training on equipment when needed.
  • Resolve customer issues quickly, collaborating with other departments as necessary.

Product Knowledge:

  • Develop and maintain in depth knowledge of Vermeer underground equipment and competitive offerings.
  • Clearly communicate equipment features, benefits, limitations, and proper applications.
  • Demonstrate safe and proper operation of underground equipment.
  • Understand and communicate daily maintenance requirements and ownership best practices at delivery.
  • Retain key specifications across the underground product lineup.

Administration & Territory Management

  • Maintain accurate CRM records including customer notes, quotes, sales activity, and purchase history.
  • Submit weekly call reports and customer hot lists.
  • Provide accurate pricing and assist with trade-in evaluations in coordination with the Sales Manager.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, including warranties, demos, deliveries, rentals, and financial paperwork.
  • Follow established procedures for transporting, prepping, and delivering equipment.
  • Follow up on outstanding invoices and open transactions.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience required; industry experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and follow through.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer and typing proficiency.
  • Must have (or be willing to obtain within required timeframe) a Class A CDL.
  • Clean driving record required.
  • Understanding of industry practices, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates strongly preferred.
