About the role

Vermeer Southeast is seeking a Corporate Fleet & Safety Manager to join our team. This is a high-impact, dual-role position with a strong emphasis on fleet operations and optimization, while also ensuring regulatory safety compliance across our organization.

What you'll do

Fleet Management

  • Oversee and manage relationships with Fleet Management Companies (FMCs)
  • Analyze data and generate reports to guide senior leadership in:
    • Vehicle purchase decisions
    • Fleet lifecycle planning
    • Repair vs. replacement analysis
  • Ensure vehicle specifications match operational needs
  • Research and evaluate advancements in fleet technologies, including telematics, camera systems, and tracking solutions

Safety Management

  • Ensure company-wide compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations
  • Conduct and document accident investigations; recommend corrective actions
  • Participate in workers’ compensation cases, identifying and recommending preventive measures
  • Perform on-site safety inspections at facilities and service locations
  • Create and maintain Emergency Action and Evacuation Plans

Regulatory Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations including driver qualification files, hours of service, and vehicle inspections.
  • Manage licensing, certifications, and renewals for fleet and operators.
  • Submit required regulatory reports and maintain documentation for audits or inspections.

Budget Management

  • Assist in the development and management of the budget for safety and fleet operations.
  • Identify cost-effective solutions for fleet management and safety improvements.

Leadership & Communication

  • Act as a liaison between departments to support safety and operational goals.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to drivers, technicians, and field personnel on safety and compliance standards.
  • Serve as a key contact for third-party safety and fleet vendors.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in fleet operations and data analysis
  • Working knowledge of FMC systems and vehicle procurement processes
  • Understanding of safety regulations, or willingness to learn DOT/OSHA requirements
  • Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the region

Qualifications

Desired minimum experience, education and skills required:


Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in safety, fleet, or operations management; industrial or heavy equipment industry experience preferred.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, DOT Compliance, or Certified Fleet Manager (CFM) are a plus.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
  • Experience with fleet management software and GPS tracking systems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and implement process improvements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety reporting platforms.

Working Conditions

  • Office, shop, and field environments.
  • Travel to job sites or other dealership branches.
  • Must be able to lift as a minimum of 50 lbs. and work in various weather conditions when inspecting vehicles or field sites.
