About the role
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Vacuum Truck Support Specialist to serve and support our outside sales team, shop operations, and vacuum truck customers. This role is a mix of customer training, equipment support, field visits, and coordination with sales and service teams. The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working directly with customers in both shop and job-site environments.
What you'll do
Primary Roles & Responsibilities
- Train and support vacuum truck customers on proper operation and maintenance of equipment
- Assist with preparing vacuum trucks for demos and deliveries (PDI process)
- Deliver equipment as needed
- Support customers who visit the shop to view equipment when the outside sales representative is unavailable
- Assist with setting up and working trade shows and customer events
- Identify parts and service opportunities by reviewing customer accounts prior to visits and promoting our Parts & Service Department
- Proactively visit vacuum truck job sites to support customers
- Maintain knowledge of Vermeer tooling specific to vacuum trucks
Secondary Responsibilities
- Complete Vermeer University training related to vacuum truck repair
- Long-term goal: assist with diagnosing repair needs both on job sites and in the shop
- Utilize CRM software to document customer interactions and activities
- Transport equipment to other Vermeer Southeast locations as needed
- Maintain a valid Class A CDL and Air Brakes endorsement
- Assist the shop as requested
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 2 years of industry experience preferred
- Ability to operate and drive a vacuum truck
- Proficient with common computer programs, including Microsoft Office and Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both in person and over the phone
- Valid Class A CDL required
- Air Brakes endorsement preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours when needed (before 7:00 AM and after 5:00 PM)
