About the role

Position Summary:

Loads, unloads, and moves materials within plant or work site by performing the following duties.

What you'll do

Position Responsibilities:

1.       Reads Job Sheet/Standard Manufacturing Procedure (SMP) or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.

2.       Completes Daily Forklift Inspection Log at beginning of shift to ensure proper forklift functioning.

3.       Maintains adequate materials at workstations throughout shift.

4.       Empties hoppers and trash containers as required.

5.       Transports boxed parts from presses to make-up area per set procedure.

6.       Retrieves support equipment from storage and transports to designated areas.

7.       Returns support equipment to storage.

8.       Removes scrap/waste from production areas and places it into large hoppers.

9.       Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, uncoilers, racks, and shelves by hand or using forklift.

10.    Ties, bands, or otherwise fastens finished master coils from coating line.

11.    Loads materials onto pallets using forklift.

12.    Installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage while in transit.

13.    Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys from storge or work sites to designated areas.

14.    Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled in Plexus.

15.    Attaches identifying tags or labels obtained from Plexus to materials.

16.    Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.

17.    Cleans equipment, machines, and work area.

18.    Makes simple adjustments or repairs to forklift.

19.    Operates forklift or electric power hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.

20.    Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

21.    This position requires someone who can work an 8- or 12-hour shift.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Knowledge of basic computer and keyboard use.
• Forklift license required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to work any continuous or fixed shift schedule including any day of the calendar week as required for operation of the position and mandatory overtime as implemented by management.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
