About the role
What you'll do
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Develops the maintenance skills and knowledge of the maintenance department associates by teaching and mentoring them using standard, safe, good business practices for all maintenance activities. Conducts periodic safety meeting and plant inspection. Maintains time and production records, maintains absentee and vacation schedules.
Qualifications
· Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Ability to interpret blueprints.
Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience in a Plant Maintenance Supervisory Position.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Ability to work any continuous or fixed schedule, possibly including an excessive number of hours (12 – 16) in a single workday, on any day of the calendar week depending on business needs.
· Preferred TS/QS experience
· Ability to use Microsoft Office and Minitab
· Preferred Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, minimum of Green Belt
· Knowledge of Visual Systems, Process Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, FIFO Staging, 6S and Waste Elimination
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
