About the role

We’re looking for a Sourcing & Supply Chain Analyst to keep raw materials, components, and services flowing reliably and cost-effectively across our North America operations. Reporting to the Master Scheduling Product Manager, you’ll own material planning and inventory, hold suppliers accountable for on-time delivery, and turn supply chain data into clear recommendations for leadership. Our priorities follow SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost), and this role supports sourcing decisions in that order.

This is an on-site position located in Blacksburg, VA and is not eligible for remote work.

What you'll do

  • Drive supplier on-time delivery: monitor performance, escalate at-risk orders, and lead corrective actions with underperforming suppliers.
  • Manage vendors supporting development and new business projects, catching potential delays early so project timelines stay on track.
  • Build and maintain material plans based on demand signals, MRP requirements, and production schedules, working as one team with Production Planning and Scheduling.
  • Manage raw material inventory to value targets, review safety stock at least quarterly, and support disposition of slow-moving and obsolete materials.
  • Analyze spend by category, supplier, and site to find cost savings and consolidation opportunities.
  • Monitor steel, elastomer, and chemical markets and assess pricing and supply impacts.
  • Track PPV, cost savings, and procurement KPIs, and prepare monthly reports and dashboards.
  • Protect customer on-time delivery by ensuring material availability and communicating supply risks early.
  • Assess single-source, geographic, and capacity risks and recommend mitigation plans.
  • Partner with Quality on supplier qualification and with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and cost modeling.
  • Keep ERP item, supplier, and pricing data accurate, and improve reports, tools, and processes across North America sites.
  • Support tariff, import/export, and trade compliance analysis for global suppliers.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in sourcing, purchasing, supply chain analysis, or procurement, preferably in manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience with material planning, inventory management, and MRP-driven planning
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling)
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, purchasing processes, and inventory control
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, including total-cost-of-ownership analysis
  • Confidence presenting data and recommendations to leadership, raising risks early, and influencing without authority

Preferred

  • Experience with steel, rubber/elastomers, or chemicals
  • Warehousing experience
  • Power BI or similar reporting tools
  • APICS/ASCM (CPIM, CSCP) or ISM (CPSM) certification
  • Knowledge of automotive supplier quality requirements (IATF 16949)

Work Environment

This is primarily an office-based role, with occasional visits to our manufacturing facilities, where PPE is required. Travel of up to 10–15%, domestic and international, is required for supplier visits and site support. Some work outside normal hours is needed to support global suppliers across time zones.
