Role Overview
As a Growth Engineer at Wander, you will be the technical force behind our marketing initiatives, enabling data-driven acquisition, lifecycle optimization, experimentation, and automation at scale. You will partner closely with the CMO, VP of Growth and cross-functional teams in Marketing, Product, and Data to build robust systems, integrations, and tooling that fuel revenue growth and improve performance across all marketing channels.
This role combines software engineering with growth analytics and martech expertise, centered on our modern tech stack — giving you the opportunity to build impactful systems that directly move key business metrics.
What You’ll Do
Engineering for Growth
- Build, scale, and maintain reliable tracking and instrumentation across web, mobile, and backend platforms using tools and frameworks aligned with our core stack (e.g., TypeScript, Node.js, Fastify, Prisma).
- Develop reusable APIs, event pipelines, and integrations that power attribution, segmentation, and automation across acquisition and retention channels.
- Architect and maintain high-quality event tracking, conversion APIs, and analytics hooks critical to payment, offer, lifecycle, and engagement flows.
Martech Infrastructure & Integrations
- Own integrations and custom connectors between key marketing systems (CRM, CDP, ad platforms, analytics, email/automation).
- Ensure end-to-end data fidelity across systems — from first touch to long-term value — minimizing data loss and improving attribution accuracy.
Extend and integrate with LLM tools (e.g., OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic) where growth use cases benefit (e.g., creative personalization, content automation, intelligent segmentation).
Experimentation & Optimization
- Implement frameworks and tooling for experimentation (A/B testing, feature flags, personalization layers) to validate growth hypotheses and optimize funnels.
- Build interfaces and backend services that enable rapid experimentation and rollback with confidence.
Automation & Workflow Engineering
- Automate repetitive marketing processes (audience syncs, campaign launches, lead scoring) to increase efficiency and reduce manual overhead.
- Create scripts, microservices, and task runners that support campaign orchestration and operational efficiency.
Data, Attribution & Analytics Foundations
- Collaborate deeply with Data and Analytics to align event schemas, build reliable conversion tracking, and support full-funnel analysis.
- Drive improvements in LTV/CAC measurement, cohort analysis, and predictive models through accurate, scalable pipelines built on SQL, data lakes, and internal tooling.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product, Data, Engineering, and Marketing to deliver performant, scalable solutions that align with Wander’s product principles and user experience standards.
Provide technical guidance to marketers on best practices, tooling limitations, and opportunities for innovation.
What You’ll Bring
Technical Experience
- 3+ years of full-stack or backend engineering experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript stacks.
- Strong backend development skills (Node.js, Fastify or similar service frameworks).
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and ORM usage (e.g., Prisma).
Familiarity with caching (Redis), message buses/event systems (Kafka or similar), and reliable data pipelines. - Proficiency with API design, integration patterns, and scalable service architecture.
- Experience working with cloud environments (preferably GCP) and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes.
Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using standard tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions), monorepos (Yarn, Nx, Turbo), and observability tooling (Sentry, structured logs, metrics).
Growth & Analytics Aptitude
- Comfortable working with data — both operational (code) and analytical (SQL, event streams).
Experience connecting engineering solutions to marketing KPIs (CAC, ROI, conversion rates).
Soft Skills
- Excellent communicator capable of translating between technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong ownership mentality, prioritization skills, and ability to operate in an async, remote-first environment.
A builder mindset — comfortable exploring new tools, improving legacy systems, and advocating for scalable solutions.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Prior experience building growth engines or martech automation workflows.
- Experience with real-time processing and webhooks integration.
- Familiarity with real-world experimentation platforms and statistical best practices.
- Knowledge of GraphQL, serverless services, or advanced personalization systems.
