About the role
- The Nuclear Design Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, I/C) will be responsible for overseeing and supporting engineering aspects of nuclear engineering design projects from conception through completion. This role requires a deep understanding of nuclear engineering principles, project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate can support full time on-site support from senior level engineers with commercial nuclear power experience. Needs to have design engineering qualifications that could transfer/accept as equivalent for tasks like preparing calculations and engineering change packages (industry standard design).
- There are currently needs for 2x Mechanical, 2x I/C, and 1x Electrical Design Engineers in total.
What you'll do
- Plan, coordinate, and manage nuclear projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor project progress to ensure milestones are achieved.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical evaluations to support project decision-making.
- Ensure all project activities comply with nuclear safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including design specifications, safety analyses, and regulatory submissions.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project team members and other departments as needed.
- Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges that may arise during project execution.
- Conduct performance evaluations of project outcomes and implement improvements for future projects.
- Stay current with advancements in nuclear technology and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in nuclear engineering and project management.
- Strong knowledge of nuclear safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., NRC, ASME, ANSI).
- Proven experience in managing complex engineering projects from inception to completion.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
