Wildfire Defense Systems, Inc. (“WDS”) is a Qualified Insurance Resource (QIR) operating the largest private sector wildfire service in the nation, encompassing a 22-state service area and specializing in wildfire education, loss prevention, and wildfire response services. Qualified Insurance Resources are defined as NWCG qualified or equivalent, wildland engines, tenders, hand crews, fire/liaison officers, and personnel working for or contracted by an insurance company with a mission to mitigate impacts on insured structures threatened by wildfire. WDS holds contracts with insurance companies to provide wildfire loss prevention services. WDS fields experienced, highly trained, safety-focused wildfire officers and fire personnel that hold a wide range of Federal Wildfire Incident Command position classifications necessary to meet or exceed all federal wildfire operation standards and codes including all requirements of the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (“NWCG”) or equivalent. WDS is capable of providing more than 180 wildland engines and hundreds of fire personnel and support personnel. WDS has served large and small insurance clients since 2008.

Purpose and Scope of Position

The Technical Content Writer II supports Wildfire Defense Systems Companies (WD Companies) by producing high-quality deliverables for internal stakeholders and external (domestic and international) clients through the creation, development, and writing of reporting products, marketing materials, presentations, operational planning documentation, and other written content for a variety of mediums. This role combines creative writing abilities, technical proficiency, and strategic thinking and has a direct and significant impact on project execution and operational success.


Organizational Relationship

  • This position reports to the Reporting Team Lead within the Client Communications Department of the Professional Services Business Unit.
  • This position collaborates with fellow team members in the following departments: Program & Client Management, Service Delivery Optimization, Data Science, and others in the WD Companies as assigned.
  • This position does not supervise others.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze data via proprietary software to research and write professional, clear, and cohesive reports detailing service delivery to clients.
  • Perform property-level assessments utilizing mapping and property information to write operational planning documents for internal use.
  • Create external-facing marketing products for internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to facilitate content creation for websites and social media platforms.
  • Conduct thorough research on industry-related topics to ensure written content is accurate, relevant, and valuable to readers, and strategize on how best to utilize this research to the benefit of WDS.
  • Develop clear and effective content which strategically aligns with high-level business objectives and branding guidelines.
  • Maintains consistent messaging across articles, blogs, scripts, and social media posts.
  • Evaluate content using best search engine optimization (SEO) practices and make strategic adjustments to increase visibility and drive traffic.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders regarding their marketing and design needs to ensure content aligns with broader campaign goals and brand messaging.


Required Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor of Arts or Sciences in English, Business, or Marketing
  • 3-5 years of experience in business, marketing, or related industries
  • Experience in developing and/or editing marketing content (e.g., summary reports, presentations, technical documents, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe InDesign


Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience with graphic design and associated software (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop)
  • Experience with website management (SquareSpace)
  • Experience with SEO
  • Experience or familiarity with GIS software (ArcGIS)
  • Experience developing/editing technical content for international markets

  • Able to adjust to changing work requirements and priorities, respond to new situations, and expand one’s knowledge and skills


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs.

The pay range for this role is:

61,800 - 88,700 USD per year (WDS Bozeman Headquarters)
