Wildfire Defense Systems, Inc. (“WDS”) is a Qualified Insurance Resource (QIR) operating the largest private sector wildfire service in the nation, encompassing a 22-state service area and specializing in wildfire education, loss prevention, and wildfire response services. Qualified Insurance Resources are defined as NWCG qualified or equivalent, wildland engines, tenders, hand crews, fire/liaison officers, and personnel working for or contracted by an insurance company with a mission to mitigate impacts on insured structures threatened by wildfire. WDS holds contracts with insurance companies to provide wildfire loss prevention services. WDS fields experienced, highly trained, safety-focused wildfire officers and fire personnel that hold a wide range of Federal Wildfire Incident Command position classifications necessary to meet or exceed all federal wildfire operation standards and codes including all requirements of the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (“NWCG”) or equivalent. WDS is capable of providing more than 180 wildland engines and hundreds of fire personnel and support personnel. WDS has served large and small insurance clients since 2008.

Job Summary

The Financial Planner & Analyst III will serve the organization as part of the financial analyst team under the direction of the Vice President of Finance. They will ensure accuracy of source data, provide reporting, forecasting, and decision support for executive management, and analyze the data product for aberrations and trends that may impact the Wildfire Defense organization. In addition, they will serve as a point of contact for reporting requests from other departments, as prioritized by the Vice President of Finance.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert for organization’s E.R.P., budgeting software, financial processes, etc.
  • Work with supervisor and FP&A team to provide timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Create and update visual representations and summaries detailing company’s financial health
  • Q.A./Q.C. work product of Finance Dept. and expense entries by non-accounting staff
  • Interface with internal clients to provide exceptional quality support and data collection
  • Enforce company policies, especially in regard to finance SOP’s
  • Provide Accounting leadership and training as needed

Job Requirements Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Education – Bachelor’s degree in - or currently enrolled for - Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or related
  • Certifications – N/A
  • Years of Experience – 7+ years related professional experience

Required Skills

  • Familiarization with MS suite products and ability to learn new programs
  • Ability to manage and summarize large data sets
  • Basic understanding of financial statements and financial forecasting
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with little supervision
  • Create and defend logical arguments in a peer environment

Preferred Skills

  • CPA, MBA, or MS in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or Related
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Financial Analytics
  • Familiarization with excel functions such as pivot tables, lookups, and macros
  • Base knowledge of PowerBI or other means to visually represent financial data
  • Familiarization with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central ERP

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15-lbs.
  • Work overtime as organizational needs require

The pay range for this role is:

81,400 - 91,200 USD per year (Bozeman, MT)
