About the Role:
As VP/SVP of Integrated Communications at Phaedon, you will lead a portfolio of renowned beverage brands, directing our teams to create exceptional earned media campaigns and brand activations. This strategic leadership role combines brand stewardship, team development, and business growth, serving as a key member of Phaedon's integrated leadership team.
At Phaedon, we recognize that exceptional talent comes with diverse experiences. This position offers the flexibility to be filled at either the Vice President or Senior Vice President level. The final title and compensation will be thoughtfully determined using factors including but not limited to relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Oversee integrated communications campaigns across a portfolio of beloved beverage brands.
- Align communications programs with client business objectives and brand positioning.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Brand Strategy, Creative and production to deliver award-winning campaigns that are on time, and within budget.
- Provide visionary leadership to the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and category activities to identify new opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
- Serve as an active member of Phaedon’s integrated leadership team.
Team Management & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a positive and motivating work environment, helping the team produce top-tier, award-winning work.
- Oversee talent development and growth plans for team members, setting clear performance objectives, conducting regular performance reviews, and providing guidance and support.
- Ensure teams maintain the highest standards of client service and campaign execution.
- Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and strategic excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as media, creative, and strategy, to ensure seamless integration.
- Ensure appropriate resource allocation across accounts, balancing client/team needs while also aiming to hit agency contribution margins.
Client Leadership:
- Serve as a trusted leader to build and nurture strong senior client relationships, providing strategic counsel on communications opportunities and challenges--understanding the business needs to anticipate and solve problems before they arise.
- Apply key learnings from brands across the portfolio and maintain line of sight into all workstreams, knowing when to get in the weeds of the work and when to let teams run.
- Ensure exceptional client satisfaction by overseeing the delivery of high-quality and creative campaigns that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Lead regular evaluations of partnership effectiveness, nurturing growth opportunities across the portfolio in the spirit of stronger client service and delivering excellence.
- Drive client satisfaction and retention through exceptional service and results.
Business Development:
- Drive the growth of the agency by identifying new and organic business opportunities, cultivating relationships with clients, and expanding our client base.
- Lead the development of compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches to win new clients and secure long-term partnerships.
- Represent Phaedon at client and industry events to build the agency’s reputation and network.
Campaign Execution:
- Oversee the development of innovative brand activations that meet business objectives, drive meaningful conversation and measurable results.
- Collaborate with team leads to help deliver world-class media relations, influencer marketing, and event strategies.
- Lead crisis communications planning and response with proven experience in leading risk mitigation efforts, when needed.
- Monitor performance metrics and develop optimization strategies to achieve client business objectives.
- Work closely with the finance team to forecast revenue, track expenses, and provide accurate and timely financial reports.
Location:
This role is based out of our office in the AMA Plaza building in the heart of downtown Chicago. We embrace a hybrid model with three in-office days per week to ensure a mix of collaboration and flexibility to support our employees' success.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field
- Proven experience (10+ years) in the earned communications field, with a focus on client service, business development and/or account management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- In-depth knowledge of earned media, tracking tools and industry best practices.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking abilities.
- Results-oriented mindset.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Alcohol (Beer & Spirits) industry experience strongly preferred.

Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is estimated to be: $120,000- $180,000 per year.
There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
