ACCOUNT ASSOCIATE I

RALLY is seeking an energetic team member who is passionate about issue advocacy and storytelling to join our firm as an Account Associate I. Account Associates I perform a number of administrative tasks across four to six client accounts, that assist in the organization and execution of advocacy campaigns. Primary responsibilities include issue area and client research, developing client-contact reports, and media lists, coordinating meetings, drafting agendas, and note-taking. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, solutions-oriented, and a team player. They are passionate about the issues RALLY addresses and are eager to contribute to meaningful work that supports our mission. This role is perfect for an early career professional looking to join an advocacy communications firm with a lot of potential for growth and advancement.  

No two days at RALLY are the same. Your day might start by prepping for an upcoming focus group and drafting the agenda for a client meeting. On another day, you might find yourself writing the first draft of a press release in a crisis scenario, grabbing coffee with a colleague, or helping to draft a new business proposal on a tight deadline. A different account might need you to coordinate a video shoot, pitch a reporter on a new campaign launch, or create social media content for a client.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle daily administrative aspects of account management, including scheduling internal and external calls, and note-taking

  • Monitor trends and changes in news media, social media, and in the political and nonprofit landscapes and generate press reports and media lists

  • Conduct research with the ability to distill key points and offer strategic insights on the information gathered

  • Familiarize yourself with, and gain competency in tools like Cision, Sprout Social, etc. 

  • Contribute to internal needs by assisting with administrative tasks, coordinating team meetings, preparing materials for internal presentations, and providing logistical support for company-wide initiatives

  • Support clients with staffing events, desk-side briefings, and other off-site functions

  • Write, edit, and proofread material including press releases, pitch letters, fact sheets, and client correspondence

  • Participate in new business processes, including research and proposal writing 

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree, or its equivalent

  • 1-2 years of experience in public interest advocacy, public relations, or related non-profit or foundation experience

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in written format, for various audiences

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple stakeholders

  • Strong understanding of public relations concepts and tactics, including drafting press releases, building press lists, pitching, and engaging with reporters

  • Strong computer skills, as well as Google Workplace and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a working knowledge of other web-based tools and platforms

  • Innovative and solutions-oriented – demonstrates resourcefulness, optimism, and flexibility in approach to project assignments

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Intellectual curiosity with a sense of humor

The compensation for this role is $26/hour, with potential for growth and advancement based on performance and contributions to our team's success. This is a full-time role with a guaranteed 40 hours per week. We believe changing the world should come with a healthy paycheck, time to recharge, and support to reach new heights. This role is hybrid, requiring candidates to be based in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle to facilitate regular in-person collaboration. You will need to be in the office twice a week, ensuring a balance between remote flexibility and valuable face-to-face teamwork. Additionally, we conduct four immersion weeks each year, during which you will be expected to work in person for four days out of the week. These weeks are a great opportunity to engage more deeply with your team and our projects.
