SENIOR ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE, EARNED MEDIA

Are you a strategic storyteller with a talent for shaping the news cycle and building meaningful media relationships? If you’re a proactive leader who can think several steps ahead, spot the strongest angles, secure top-tier coverage, and drive high-impact earned media strategies, you may be a great fit for the Senior Account Executive role in our Earned Media Vertical.

We’re looking for someone who brings sharp judgment, strong writing skills, and a deep understanding of how earned media connects with social, paid, and owned channels. You should be naturally curious about the modern media landscape – from emerging trends to shifting newsroom dynamics – and eager to translate that knowledge into thoughtful, creative approaches for clients. You are a great candidate if you are a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, excels at managing multiple priorities, and are excited to drive the most strategic and creative approaches to help our clients break through.

Whether your background is in journalism, public affairs, advocacy, government, or media relations, you’ll play a critical role in developing strategy, shaping storylines, driving outreach, and preparing clients for moments that matter. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Media Strategy Development and Execution across multiple client accounts with increasing autonomy and accountability
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications plans, messaging frameworks, and earned media strategies that advance client goals
  • Serve as a primary client point of contact—building strong relationships, proactively identifying needs, and ensuring high-quality service delivery
  • Drive earned media efforts by leading story development, building relationships with reporters, pitching top-tier outlets, and securing impactful media placements
  • Guide and mentor junior team members, ensuring high standards for client deliverables and supporting professional development
  • Translate complex policy, social, or political issues into clear, compelling narratives tailored to a variety of audiences
  • Contribute to brand, visual, and digital strategy work in partnership with creative and digital teams.
  • Stay on top of news cycles, cultural trends, and political developments to inform client recommendations and rapid response efforts
  • Lead or support new business efforts by identifying prospects, shaping proposals, contributing to pitch meetings, and offering at least two new business ideas per quarter
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and team workflows, ensuring alignment with client expectations and internal quality standards
  • Participate in agency-wide initiatives that strengthen company culture, improve internal processes, and advance RALLY’s mission
  • Collaborate with your Role Sponsor to define and pursue a personalized professional development plan that supports long-term growth at RALLY

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5–7 years of experience in communications, public relations, or issue advocacy—preferably in an agency, nonprofit, campaign, or foundation setting
  • Demonstrated success leading client relationships and executing multi-channel communications strategies
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex ideas into accessible, persuasive content
  • Deep familiarity with media relations best practices, including reporter engagement, pitching, and message development
  • Strategic thinker with a strong understanding of how communications can shape public opinion, influence policy, and drive action
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with attention to detail
  • Skilled at mentoring junior staff and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office; familiarity with tools such as Cision, Critical Mention, Meltwater, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, project management platforms, and AI writing or research tools is a plus
  • Curious, adaptable, and grounded in a commitment to social change, equity, and progressive values
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and solutions-oriented, with strong emotional intelligence and a sense of humor
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to step confidently into leadership roles

Compensation and Timeline: The salary range for this position is $70,000–$85,000, with opportunities for growth and advancement based on performance and contributions to the team’s success. We will review applications through December 5, 2025, and begin interviews shortly after that date. The anticipated start date for this position is January 6, 2026.
