About the Role:

Whisker Labs is seeking a Senior Mobile Developer to join our fully remote development team to develop mobile apps for iOS and Android, using cross-platform frameworks such as Ionic and Capacitor.

Join Whisker Labs as a Senior Mobile Developer to help lead the development and advancement of our highly regarded and mission critical mobile apps. These apps are used by almost 1 million customers and our employees to help detect and mitigate fire hazards in homes, quite literally saving lives.  The mobile apps play a critical role detecting early warning signs of electrical fires in homes, preventing one of the deadliest types of fires. Whisker Labs is growing rapidly, and the team maintains a high-energy, fast moving, and creative culture.

The candidate will interface across our engineering and product teams and will take a technical leadership role developing and advancing our mobile app experience.  You must have substantial experience in production quality mobile app development on both iOS and Android, as well as extensive experience developing on Ionic and Capacitor, or similar frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fulfill a lead role in mobile app development of production quality mobile app releases.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and fire safety team leadership to conceptualize and deliver improvements to our mobile apps.
• Build high quality mobile apps on iOS and Android, using the Ionic and Capacitor frameworks.
• Develop and optimize performance and durability of the mobile apps.
• Participate in software design, production-readiness, and code reviews.
• Thorough functional and cross platform testing of our mobile apps.
• Understanding of our wider software solution, collaborating with peers across teams.
• Establish and maintain a high level or productivity and agility within a scrum team of high skilled full stack developers.

Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in iOS and Android mobile app development, as well as Ionic and Capacitor, or similar frameworks.
• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience as an iOS and Android mobile app developer and deep experience with associated cross-platform frameworks such as Ionic and Capacitor.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• Expertise in modern mobile app frameworks and technologies.
• Experience integrating with backend RESTful APIs.
• Expertise in mobile app testing.
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, fast-paced environment.
• Independent, self-learner, excellent problem solver.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with a GitHub and build pipelines.
• Experience developing near-real-time data visualizations within mobile apps.
• Experience with native mobile app development.
• Experience with mobile app Test Automation frameworks.
• Experience with cloud ecosystems (AWS preferred).
