The Role


The Medical Advocate is responsible for serving as a liaison between clients and health professionals.  The Medical Advocate is also responsible for reviewing all medical and clinical records to provide a comprehensive level of care recommendation.  Additionally, the medical advocate will work closely with the clinical and medical leadership to discuss complex cases and provide determinations on appropriateness for our remote setting. 



What You’ll Do

  • Review medical information for potential admissions.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Medical Advocate and medical/clinical leadership  to review medical and clinical information to provide a comprehensive level of care recommendation.
  • Consult with medical doctors to provide medical clearance for potential admissions.
  • Provide training for admissions staff on medical topics including medical complications of eating disorders, information necessary for medical clearance, etc.
  • Coordinate with outpatient teams to facilitate receipt of information necessary for medical clearance and review level of care recommendations with providers, when needed.
  • Communicate with potential admissions regarding their medical information, level of care, and medical requirements for admission when necessary.
  • Communicate with the receiving treatment team regarding expectations set with the client prior to admission around medical monitoring.
  • Create a medical summary that contains medical and clinical information for all incoming admissions. 
  • Other duties at the request of the supervisor.

Who You Are

  • You will have 2+ years’ experience in clinical medicine.
  • 2+ years of experience managing the care and treatment of eating disorders.
  • Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills.
  • Superb judgment, problem-solving and cognitive skills.
  • Valid license to practice medicine in your home state. Must be eligible and willing to obtain licenses in multiple states. 
  • Telehealth experience a big plus!

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Employees are required to read, review, prepare and analyze written data and figures, using a computer or similar, and should possess visual acuity.
  • This position answers and places telephone calls as well as video conferences and must be able to converse.  
  • Must be able to converse with colleagues via telephone and computer programs.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and navigate applications within a smart-phone, iPhone, MacBook computer and/or tablet.
  • Able to sit for the majority of shifts.
  • Must have reliable internet connection.
  • This is a work-from-home position.  Work should be performed in a private, quiet space with minimal background noise.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently.

The pay range for this role is:

60,000 - 88,000 USD per year (Florida)
