Compensation: $19/hr 

Regular Duties 

Community is what we’re known for, and our engagement leaders are at the heart of it all! You’ll create fun and engaging building events that students want to attend. A high-level overview of the role is below:  

1. Planning & Executing Amazing Building Events 

2. Marketing & Advertising Events 

3. Utilize Social Media to Showcase life@HOEM

We’re a team of people who does whatever it takes, so there will be other duties that you are assigned in your role with us that don’t fit nicely into this list.    

Our Engagement team members are approachable, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport so students feel comfortable around them and have fun at HOEM events. You should be social and enthusiastic, getting to know the students who attend your events. HOEMies should feel like they're missing out when they can't make it to your event! 

Successful candidates are expected to have excellent time management, organization and prioritization skills. They must be able to meet tight deadlines, fast review turnovers and communicate effectively with their supervisor.  

At the end of the contract term, success in this position will look like: 

• Community Engagement: All HOEMies will feel that you have created a wonderful and inclusive community where they met their best friends. 
• Event Attendance: Attendance at events is at maximum capacity, displaying excitement and engagement with the events. 
• Student Satisfaction: Students will report high levels of satisfaction and support from you, reflecting the positive impact of your event planning and execution. 
• Punctuality and Organization: You will consistently demonstrate punctuality, organization, and effective time management through successful event planning, timely communication, and accurate administrative duties. 
• Event Management Confidence: You will feel confident in your ability to successfully run events that facilitate friendships and community building, showcasing your growth and competence in event management. 
• Strong Problem Solving Abilities: You’ll be able to apply critical thinking and communication skills to confidently assess situations and resolve unexpected issues effectively.  

Work Schedule  

Hours of Work: You'll work approximately 10 hours per week, scheduled around your academic schedule, and align with the planned event schedule.

Team Meetings: Mandatory and in person. These meetings will be scheduled as early as 7am and as late as 10pm bi-weekly. Exact date and time will be determined as a team based on academic schedules.  

One-On-Ones: To be scheduled with your supervisor around your academic schedule. Every effort will be made for these to be scheduled during an assigned work shift.   

Training: There is mandatory training that you need to be present for.   

Academic: August 17th - 21st, 2026

Move-In & Move-out Days: Move-in and move-out days are mandatory for the full HOEM team. You will receive at least 2 weeks’ notice for your assigned work hours for these days.    

August 22-23, 2026

Away Date Blackout Periods: Due to the cyclical nature of our work, there are specific periods that no scheduled absences will be permitted:   

August 17th - September 30th, 2026

April 24th - May 3rd, 2027

All successful candidates must maintain student status throughout their term of employment. They must also pass a Police Criminal Records Check through their local Police Department at their own expense. Preference will be given to applicants who live at HOEM.
