About the Role:
Seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import Export Analyst to manage and coordinate international shipments, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of global trade practices, customs regulations, and logistics processes. The Import Export Analyst is a valuable professional who ensures the efficient and compliant movement of goods across international borders. They require a blend of technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring compliance of all shipments with international trade laws, regulations, and tariffs. This involves preparing and submitting accurate customs documentation, maintaining import/export records, and management of broker services.
- Planning and managing the movement of goods, including scheduling shipments, working with freight forwarders or brokers, and overseeing customs clearance.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate and complete import and export documentation, such as bills of ladening, commercial invoices, and customs declarations.
- Communicating with suppliers, customers, brokers, carriers, and government agencies to address inquiries and resolve issues related to international trade.
- Identifying and resolving problems, such as shipping delays or customs issues.
- Ability to classify goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
- Analyzing market trends, consumer preferences, and competition to identify opportunities for international trade expansion. Work to be prepared in advance of market trends by anticipating change and contingent scenario planning.
- Mitigating risks associated with international trade, including currency fluctuations and supply chain disruptions. Developing alternative solutions to mitigate risk.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, vendors, and partners involved in international trade.
Required Skills & Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in international business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is often preferred.
- At least two plus years of experience in import/export operations or international logistics.
- Proficiency in relevant software and systems such as Enterprise Resource Plannings, Freight Management Systems, Inventory Management Systems, and Customs Compliance Software.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational skills, and negotiation skills.
- Strong expert understanding of international trade regulations, Incoterms, customs procedures, trade compliance and logistics coordination.
- Global trade compliance Certification (e.g., CUSECO, CCS) is a plus.
- Familiarity with international trade agreements (e.g., USMCA, EU trade rules).
- Knowledge of duty drawback programs and bonded warehouse procedures.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting trade data and optimizing logistics with ability to utilize systems to generate reports for KPI’s and metrics.
- Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers globally.
- Understanding sustainability best practices in global supply chains.
· Ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate shipping contracts.
· Experience with NetSuite, UPS and FedEx is a plus.
Pay Range: Base Salary 60k-70k, plus benefits
