We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of Engineering to lead our engineering team, ensure alignment with organizational goals, and bridge the gap between technical execution and strategic vision. The ideal candidate is not only a seasoned technologist but also an excellent communicator who can articulate technical progress, challenges, and opportunities to leadership and the board while driving team success and innovation.
What You'll Do:
- Leadership & Communication:
- Act as the primary engineering representative in executive leadership meetings, delivering clear updates on progress, performance, and risks.
- Collaborate with Product to align technical strategy with business objectives.
- Foster a culture of transparency and accountability across teams.
- Engineering Excellence:
- Oversee all engineering activities and technical operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative solutions.
- Remain hands-on where necessary, providing technical expertise in architecture, code reviews, and complex problem-solving.
- Drive adoption of best practices, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and code quality.
- Performance & Success Metrics:
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the engineering organization, aligning team goals with broader company objectives.
- Establish a data-driven approach to monitor team productivity, system performance, and project milestones.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize resource allocation, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Team Management:
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of growth, inclusivity, and innovation.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and implement professional development plans.
- Ensure team members are motivated, aligned, and equipped to achieve their goals.
- Strategic Vision:
- Foster innovation by staying updated and curious about emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities to innovate and stay ahead of the competition, such as Generative AI agents, coding assistants, and other technology that can serve as a force multiplier.
- Drive long-term technical planning, including technology stack evolution and infrastructure scalability.
Who You Are:
- Proven experience: You are someone with experience (10+ years) in software engineering, with a solid history of successful leadership positions in a startup or scale up environment.
- Strong technical foundation with expertise: You have a deep understanding of software development principles, architecture design, and modern technology stacks, combined with the ability to make informed decisions on technical direction and solve complex problems efficiently.
- Partnership mindset: You have a cross functional collaborative approach to leadership, prioritizing strong relationships with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and leadership to align technical efforts with organizational goals and foster mutual success.
- Exceptional communication skills: You are skilled at simplifying intricate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights that enable informed decision-making by executives, board members, and other non-technical audiences.
- Track record of delivery: You have demonstrated success in planning, executing, and delivering complex technical initiatives, balancing technical challenges with resource constraints to achieve impactful outcomes.
- Experience managing performance and tracking success through data-driven metrics: You are proficient in defining key performance indicators, monitoring team and project progress, and using data to drive continuous improvement and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Ability to lead, inspire, and grow diverse engineering teams: You are adept at cultivating an inclusive and high-performing team culture, mentoring engineers, and empowering teams to excel in dynamic and challenging settings.
