About the role:

Zixi is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to join our Engineering team in Israel. This role focuses on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of the Zixi Platform while supporting mission-critical, broadcast-grade live video delivery across complex, distributed environments. As a senior individual contributor, you will work closely with Engineering and Product Management to validate new features, identify risks early, and help deliver high-quality releases. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on testing, problem solving, and working on technically challenging systems where quality truly matters.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Quality Assurance & Test Execution:

• Plan, execute, and document manual and automated test cases for backend services, APIs, and system-level workflows.
• Validate functional, integration, regression, and performance aspects of the Zixi Platform.
• Ensure new features meet product requirements and quality standards before release.
• Perform exploratory testing to identify edge cases and failure scenarios in complex workflows.

Automation & Tooling:

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated test suites.
• Execute and maintain automated tests as part of CI/CD pipelines.
• Identify opportunities to improve test coverage and reduce manual effort.
• Work closely with QA Automation Leads and Engineers to improve automation reliability.

Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis:

• Identify, reproduce, and clearly document defects with detailed steps, logs, and supporting data.
• Collaborate with Engineering to troubleshoot issues and verify fixes.
• Participate in root cause analysis for critical defects and customer-reported issues.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with Engineering and Product teams to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Provide feedback on product behavior, usability, and testability.

Customer & Production Awareness:

• Validate workflows that reflect real-world customer environments and scale.
• Assist in testing hotfixes and patches for production issues when needed.
• Help ensure customer-critical scenarios are covered in test plans.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and Software Testing.
• Experience with test automation frameworks or scripting (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).
• Understanding of IP networking concepts (TCP/UDP, multicast, latency).
• Strong experience testing backend systems, APIs, and distributed platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Linux environments and command-line tools.
• Solid understanding of QA methodologies, test planning, and defect lifecycle.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of test areas.

Nice To Have Qualifications:

• Experience testing cloud-based or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with live video, broadcast, or streaming technologies.
• Experience with performance, load, or stress testing.
• Knowledge of AI augmented testing procedures.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
