Job Description

Zuckerman Investment Group is seeking a seasoned professional with 5+ years investment management and portfolio management experience. The ideal candidate will ensure that our investment portfolios align with each client’s objectives, risk tolerance, and regulatory requirements. This role requires a strong strategic mindset, deep investment knowledge, and a proven ability to understand and meet client needs, all while maintaining a focus on delivering consistent, long-term investment performance. 

JOB FUNCTION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Exemplifies the core values of Zuckerman Investment Group. 
  • Willingness and ability to speak with high net worth clients. 
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of financial markets with the ability to provide tailored investment solutions. 
  • Ability to consume, distill large quantities of information and develop insights from vast sources of information, including research reports, industry news, daily news publications, company press releases, etc. 
  • Ability to build and maintain detailed financial models. 
  • Ability to write detailed investment memorandums.  
  • Develop and maintain research relationships including company management, industry contacts, and research vendors.  Participate in marketing meetings with consultants, advisors, clients and prospects. 
  • Performs thorough fundamental analysis of companies across all sectors.  
  • Generate research and recommend new equity ideas within our investment process.  
  • Conducts in-depth research and analysis on market trends, economic conditions, and potential investment opportunities to inform decision-making. 
  • Identifies and mitigates risks associated with client portfolios, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing exposure to various asset classes. 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 

  • 5+ years of related investment and portfolio management experience required. 
  • Outstanding work ethic, attention to detail and ability to work well on a team and cross functionally. 
  • Proven ability to grasp and comprehend highly complex, widely varied problems and concepts and then communicate them in a simple, straightforward manner.  
  • Maintains the highest standard of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality. 
  • Maintains strong communication and working relationships with team members. 
  • Provides clear and efficient communication to leadership team and partners. 
  • Insatiable intellectual curiosity and an unrelenting desire to learn and understand “how things work”. 
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite . 
  • Proficiency with FactSet and/or Bloomberg. 

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's Degree  
  • Master’s in Business Administration (preferred) 
  • Maintain CFA® designation (preferred)  

SALARY AND BENEFITS: 

The base pay range for this position is $125,000 - $200,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. 

Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation. We provide industry-competitive salaries and significant incentive plan opportunities, a generous profit sharing 401(k) retirement plan, health insurance, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability programs, a hybrid work environment and paid-time-off programs and opportunities for growth within the firm.  This role is also eligible for bonus, subject to company policy.  

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
