About the Position

We are currently looking for a Co-op Student to join our Computational Biology team, a part of our Multispecific Antibody Therapeutics. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting computational biology and machine learning tasks related to drug discovery research. The co-op student will be involved in implementing, optimizing, and training of large-scale machine learning algorithms and language models. 


This role will be located in Vancouver, BC and is full-time onsite.


The hourly wage for this co-op position is $21.00 CAD. 


What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and optimize machine learning algorithms for the analysis of large-scale protein datasets.
  • Train, validate, and fine-tune machine learning models to extract meaningful patterns and insights from biological data. 
  • Implement strategies for model validation and performance evaluation.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including computational biologists, protein engineers and software developers, to understand biological problems and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.
  • Document code, methodologies, and results comprehensively to facilitate knowledge sharing and reproducibility.
  • Present findings and results to both technical and non-technical audiences, fostering effective communication and collaboration across teams.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computational biology, machine learning, computer science or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills especially in Python and bash.
  • Proven experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Scikit-Learn) and proficiency in relevant libraries.
  • Experience with using large language models.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and distributed computing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate biological questions into machine learning solutions.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • General knowledge about protein biochemistry is an asset.
