About the Position

We are currently seeking a Co-op Student to join the Pharmacokinetics team in the Multispecific Antibody Therapeutic (MSAT) department. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting experimental tasks related to therapeutics research. The Co-op Student will frequently be challenged to critically analyze results and contribute to the Zymeworks team effort to create best-in-class therapeutics.


This position will be based in our laboratory in Vancouver, BC. The candidate must be available to work on-site without relocation assistance.


The hourly wage for this co-op position is $21.00 CAD.


What You'll Do

  • Support preclinical pharmacokinetic (PK) analysis of novel multispecific antibody therapeutics 
  • Perform routine PK bioanalysis of biological samples with a high degree of reliability, efficiency and accuracy using MSD and/or ELISA assays. 
  • Facilitate in vivo organ and blood processing for downstream analysis.  
  • Help maintain complex sample inventories by participating in sample receipt, organization, and archiving. Maintain complete and accurate records throughout the process. 
  • Assist in interrogating antibody binding specificity utilizing either MSD/ELISA, FACS or Imaging.  
  • Help generate high quality methods and study protocols for internal programs. 
  • Adhere to Zymeworks standard procedures for generating, documenting and archiving data.  Maintain an accurate, up-to-date lab notebook or electronic notebook.  
  • Plan studies, perform experiments, interpret and analyze data, and prepare and communicate results. 
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with scientific standards, OS&H regulations and established Zymeworks’ policies and practices. 
  • Contribute to a safe and highly efficient laboratory environment through ordering of consumables, preparation of solutions, stocking of consumables, and maintaining a clean working environment.  

What You'll Bring

  • Currently enrolled in a BSc program in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Immunology or a related discipline.    
  • Must be available for a co-op term of at least 8-months. Successful completion of at least one prior relevant co-op term is preferred. 
  • Must be able to work onsite in Vancouver, BC, without relocation assistance. 
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high paced, fast changing environment. Results-oriented.  
  • Experience involving ELISA and other plate based molecular biology techniques would be an asset.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively in a team setting.  
  • Good oral, presentation, scientific/technical writing and data analysis skills.  
  • Good computer skills particularly with Excel and PowerPoint. GraphPad Prism considered an asset. 
  • Basic working knowledge of antibody structure and function.
