About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Staff Attorney to support our legal, contracts, collections, and operational infrastructure. This is a high-responsibility, business-facing role for an attorney who understands that legal is not just advisory — it is operational leverage.

You will work directly with executive leadership and operations teams to draft and enforce agreements, manage receivables recovery, improve legal systems, and build scalable internal processes.

This is ideal for a business-minded attorney who wants in-house growth exposure and meaningful ownership early in their career.

Core Responsibilities

Contracts & Commercial Legal Work

  • Draft, review, and negotiate:
  • Master Services Agreements (MSAs)
  • Statements of Work (SOWs)
  • Vendor and partner agreements
  • NDAs and confidentiality agreements
  • Independent contractor agreements
  • Settlement and release agreements
  • Interpret contractual rights and obligations
  • Advise leadership on risk allocation and enforcement strategy
  • Maintain and improve standardized contract templates
  • Oversee contract lifecycle management and tracking

Collections & Dispute Management

  • Manage pre-litigation collections strategy
  • Draft demand letters and settlement proposals
  • File and manage New York collections litigation when required
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, and court filings
  • Coordinate with outside counsel as necessary
  • Track recovery metrics and implement scalable collections workflows

Legal Operations & Process Development

  • Build and maintain internal legal tracking systems
  • Develop SOPs for contract intake, review, and approval workflows
  • Implement receivables escalation frameworks
  • Manage document retention and compliance systems
  • Support CRM and billing integrations for contract and collections tracking
  • Assist in automation initiatives for contract templates and enforcement workflows
  • Maintain internal knowledge base of legal templates and policies

Business & Corporate Support

  • Provide practical, business-oriented advice to leadership
  • Assist with entity maintenance and corporate governance tasks
  • Support compliance efforts and regulatory filings
  • Draft internal policies and operational guidelines
  • Identify risk exposures and propose mitigation strategies
  • Support cross-functional teams (finance, sales, operations) on contractual and payment matters

Qualifications

Required

  • Active New York State Bar (in good standing or able to get upon hiring)
  • 2–4 years of legal experience
  • Experience in corporate, commercial, or business law
  • Experience handling collection matters
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills
  • Ability to independently manage matters from start to finish

Preferred

  • Experience in commercial litigation
  • Experience working in-house or with growth-stage companies
  • Experience building operational systems or workflows
  • Strong comfort with legal tech and automation tools

What We’re Looking For

  • Operationally minded — not just theoretical

  • Capable of balancing legal rigor with business speed
  • Interested in long-term growth toward senior in-house counsel responsibilities
