Job Summary:

Perform corrosion control and prevention on military aircraft. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

·       Performs routine aircraft maintenance functions

·       Operates aircraft towing equipment in towing operations

·       Maintains aircraft hydraulic systems

·       Corrosion Prevention and treatment

·       Aircraft Paint and LO training

·       Performs preventive maintenance inspections on aircraft and aircraft systems and subsystems

·       Performs troubleshooting, repair, modifications, corrosion control and preservation of aircraft and aircraft systems and aircraft sub-systems.

·       Services ground support equipment. Performs preventive maintenance inspections on all ground support equipment

·       Uses blueprints, schematics, technical drawings and manufacturers’ drawings and sketches in the performance of assigned duties

·       Completes maintenance documentation accurately using OOMA, ALIS and required forms, as required by job assignment

Required Experience/Abilities: 

·       Must demonstrate an operational knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, engines and component parts

·       Must have knowledge of the proper use of hand tools in aircraft maintenance

·       Must be able to read and write, and interpret and comply with aircraft maintenance procedures, manuals, specifications, and directives, guides and forms used on the job

·       Must show proficiency in the use of OOMA and ALIS within 90 days after assignment

·       FA-18 or F-35 Airframes Organizational Maintenance

·       Six (6) years’ experience on Military aircraft is required. FAA Airframe & Powerplants (A&P) certification and relevant civilian aircraft experience may be substituted.

 

Education and Certifications Required:

·       High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate

·       Aviation Structural Mechanic Core

·       Aviation Structural Mechanic Organizational Level

 

Physical Demands:

This maintenance classification activity is usually accomplished in an indoor workshop environment.  Activities may include climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 lbs. 

 

Work Environment:

The diversity of working conditions range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc.  May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist.

The pay for this role is:

$38.82 per hour plus benefits (Cherry Point MCAS, NC)
