Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Buildings Services Branch for Summer 2025 in our Kalamazoo, MI office.

Working Environment
This is an on-site position that requires the employee to be in the office in Kalamazoo, MI. The employee performs most of the work in a temperature-controlled office environment.
Additionally, this role may be able to attend a site visit. During site visits, there may be exposure to a variety of environmental conditions such as being outdoors, being in indoor non-temperature-controlled environments, and maneuvering into tight spaces to scan existing heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and piping systems.
Physical Demands
Sitting/Standing: This role is generally sedentary, performing sitting work utilizing technological office equipment, including a laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, scanners, and copiers.
Walking: This role requires the ability to move about inside the office to access the required technological equipment. During site visits, this role requires the ability to traverse various project sites and buildings that will have uneven surfaces.
Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: This role may require stooping to reload printer trays with print paper, moving equipment, and managing cords. During site visits, this role requires the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl to set up scanning devices that will scan an existing structure.
Using Hands/Fingers: This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptops, mice, keyboards, computer monitors, telephones, scanners, and copiers.
Talking/Hearing: This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.
Seeing: This role requires seeing, viewing, and distinguishing all aspects of internal and external communications. This role requires the ability to view existing building structures inside and out to determine where scanning devices should be placed to get the required scans for the project.
Carrying/Lifting: This role requires lifting up to 30lbs to transport technological office equipment to and from various workspaces.
