Position Summary

The Senior Architect organizes, coordinates, and executes the design work on projects of all scales and ensures that all deliverables and timelines are being met within budget. This role also includes client interface which requires a personable presence, creation of graphically pleasing design options, and willingness to work in a flexible work environment connected to multiple office locations. This role must understand the processes and protocols required for the delivery of a completed project, including conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents, and construction administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following inexhaustive list of duties represent a sample of work routinely performed by this role:

  • Perform routine to moderately difficult architectural projects with minimal supervision
  • Carefully prepare and lead a team to develop working drawings, calculations, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates on specific projects.
  • Produce a coordinated set of construction documents, including managing sub consultants and coordinating their work.
  • Ensure that projects meet applicable building codes, ADA guidelines and other Federal, Tribal and/or State, and Local laws.
  • Effectively communicate with Principals-in-Charge (PIC), regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services-related to billing.
  • Coordinate with other project colleagues and design staff to provide the best solution / resolution that meets the clients’ needs.
  • Ability and desire to mentor and teach intern architects.
  • Maintain all drawings, documents, and communications in format that is retrievable and efficiently accessed by team members.
  • Employ problem-solving skills and analysis and report problems, as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Required Education and Degree: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited institution.


Required Experience and Certification:

  • Minimum of nine (9) years of overall experience in design practice
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Project Architect or Senior Architect
  • Registered Architect
  • Worked with Tribes in Oklahoma and/or have worked for the Federal Government
  • Moderate to advanced proficiency in business processes, including contractual and legal procedures
  • Excellent communicator both verbally and written, organizer, and engager of people and experiences
  • Experience in all phases of the design process from project planning and concepts through working drawings, specifications, and construction administration
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to a wide variety of building projects, from renovation to new construction
  • Strong design review and QA/QC skills
  • Can clearly articulate in written and verbal communications with clients, consultants, and staff
  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through completion

Preferred Certification:

  • LEED Credential
  • NCARB

 Required Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Projects, and Teams
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, and other BIM technology essential

Working Environment

This is a hybrid position that will require some (≤ 20%) travel to headquarters, client project sites, or conferences. When in the office, the environment is temperature controlled subject to minimal exposure to outside elements. When traveling to project sites, this role will be exposed to various environments, terrains, temperatures, and projects under construction.

 

Physical Demands

  • Sitting/Standing: This role is generally sedentary performing sitting work utilizing technological office equipment including a laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, scanners, and copiers.
  • Walking: This role requires the ability to move about inside the office to access technological equipment required for the role. During site visits, this role requires the ability to traverse various project sites and buildings that will have uneven surfaces.
  • Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: This role may require stooping to reload printer trays with print paper. During site visits, this role requires the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl to examine conditions and make recommendations to the clients for planning and improvements.
  • Using Hands/Fingers: This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, and scanners, copiers, and fax machines.
  • Talking/Hearing: This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.
  • Seeing: This role requires the ability to view text and line work on a computer screen, information in printed form, and existing project sites examining information to determine and make recommendations to the clients for planning and improvements.
  • Carrying/Lifting: This role requires the ability to lift up to 20lbs to transport technological office equipment to and from various workspaces.
