THE ROLE

Catlin Gabel School is seeking a Temporary Helpdesk Support Technician to provide friendly, first-line technology support for students, educators, staff, families, and guests. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people, is curious about technology, and is eager to jump in and learn in a dynamic school environment.


This is a full-time temporary role expected to last approximately 4-6 months, with the possibility of extension based on School needs. You will move between walk-up support, helpdesk tickets, device setup, classrooms, and events, with support from an experienced Technology team. We are looking for someone who brings a service mindset, dependable follow-through, curiosity, and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Temporary Helpdesk Support Technician reports to the Associate Director, Technology and is responsible for:


  • Deliver Responsive Helpdesk & End-User Support: Provide first-line support in person and through tickets, phone, email, and remote tools; troubleshoot common device, software, printing, connectivity, and access issues; and communicate clearly with users.
  • Support Devices, Software & Technology Operations: Set up and maintain devices, assist with software deployment and routine configuration, coordinate basic repairs, and help maintain accurate hardware, software, and loaner records.
  • Support Classroom, Meeting & Event Technology: Set up, test, troubleshoot, and break down audiovisual and presentation technology and respond to support needs across campus.
  • Document, Learn & Contribute to Team Operations: Record requests and resolutions, update help documentation, research unfamiliar issues, protect confidential information, and work collaboratively with the Technology team.

Some prior technology support, helpdesk, desktop support, customer service, or comparable hands-on experience is helpful but not required. Basic familiarity with macOS/iOS/iPadOS, Windows, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office 365, computer hardware and peripherals, or basic wired/wireless connectivity is a plus. Relevant coursework, technical training, or certifications are welcome but not required.

WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW

This is a full-time temporary, hourly position expected to last approximately 4-6 months, with the possibility of extension based on School needs. The position is not benefit-eligible. The typical schedule is Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend work possible based on support needs.


The role works across Catlin Gabel's 67-acre campus and requires regular movement among buildings, frequent computer and equipment work, and occasional lifting or moving of technology equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
