Senior Product Manager, IoT

What is the purpose of this role?

DOOR is a market leader in multifamily automation, currently managing over billions of monthly

events. We have massive scale in access control, and we are now deploying that same

dominance into IoT.


We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead our IoT line of business. This is a role for a

builder who wants to stand at the intersection of hardware, AI, and SaaS. You will not just be

managing a backlog; you will be the architect of our Building Intelligence strategy.


Location: Remote (Must reside in Denver, CO area)


Compensation:

Salary Range - $170,000 - $180,000 commensurate on experience



What is the role?

This role will take a robust portfolio (thermostats, leak detectors, multi-sensors, open/close monitors, etc) and our LoRaWAN infrastructure, and fuse them with our software platform. Your mission is to move us from "remote control" to "autonomous building operations," leveraging AI and sensor fusion to drive massive operational savings for property owners.

What will you do?

1. Full-Stack Product Lifecycle (NPI to EOL)

  • Lead the entire product lifecycle for our hardware suite, including our LoRa hubs and proprietary sensors.
  • Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) by managing field trials, beta programs, and certification readiness.
  • Make data-backed decisions on hardware iterations (V1 → V2), sensor calibration, and End-of-Life (EOL) strategies.

2. Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the "hub" for a complex web of stakeholders: Hardware, Firmware, Backend, Mobile, Web, Design, Sales, CS and Operations.
  • Translate high-level business goals into strict technical specifications for engineers and concise value propositions for Sales and Customer Success.
  • Ensure our hardware strategy aligns with supply chain realities and installation constraints.

3. Integration & Ecosystem

  • Define the integration strategy with major Property Management Systems (RealPage, Yardi, Entrata) to ensure our IoT events trigger real-world operational workflows.
  • Oversee the requirements for our OpenDOOR API/SDK as it relates to device telemetry and third-party controls.


Who You Are

  • A Strategic Operator: You think in terms of business outcomes. You understand that a "cool feature" is useless if it doesn't drive SaaS retention or reduce hardware churn.
  • A Hybrid PM: You are rare. You are just as comfortable discussing LoRaWAN payloads, duty cycles, and battery life as you are discussing UI/UX flows and SaaS pricing models.
  • Customer & Metric Obsessed: You validate every assumption. You spend time on construction sites and in leasing offices to understand the physical realities of our users.
  • You define success through hard metrics: energy saved, hours reduced, and adoption rates.
  • High Agency: You don't wait for permission. You rally shared resources, fighting for prioritization by proving the ROI of your initiatives.


What do you bring to DOOR?

  • 6+ years of Product Management experience, with a mandatory focus on IoT, Connected Hardware, or Energy Management.
  • NPI Experience: Proven track record of bringing hardware products from concept to mass market (NPI), including managing beta cycles and field testing.
  • Technical Fluency: Deep understanding of IoT protocols (LoRaWAN preferred), device telemetry, and the constraints of battery-powered devices.
  • Scale Experience: Experience working with platforms that manage thousands of connected devices; you understand the implications of "at scale" updates and data ingestion.
  • Data & AI Exposure: Familiarity with sensor fusion, data analytics, or applying ML to physical datasets is highly preferred.
