RF Data Operations Coordinator (AU)

Work with cutting edge AI technology, making the world a safer and more secure place. DroneShield (ASX:DRO) offers an opportunity to solve some of world’s most challenging technical problems in the rapidly growing counter-drone sector.

Our customers operate in some of the most challenging and high-stakes environments in the world, including military organisations, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure operators, and law enforcement. Protecting airspace in these settings requires technology that performs under pressure and teams that understand what’s at stake. At DroneShield, employees work at the leading edge of counter-drone innovation, helping to address real-world security challenges as drone threats continue to evolve globally.

With one of the largest listed defence company market capitalisations in Australia, now part of the ASX200 index, DroneShield is experiencing a period of hypergrowth. Revenue has surged from A$57 million in 2024 to over A$217 million in 2025, representing growth of more than 400% year-on-year, with record profitability and cashflow. The total addressable global market for counter-drone is assessed at approximately $100 billion, and is currently at the nascent stage with much of the growth still to come, with DroneShield well positioned as a global market leader, and the only public listed pure-play business in this sector.

The company has grown from 11 employees in 2017 to over 450 staff globally today, and is on track to reach around 550 by the end of 2026. This expansion includes investment of over A$50 million annually in R&D, a global pipeline exceeding A$2.5 billion, and continuous scaling of production capacity to meet accelerating demand.

The role is based at DroneShield’s central Sydney headquarters. Overseas on-the-ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Netherlands, Denmark, Mexico and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries worldwide.

About the role

The company is seeking a Data Operations Coordinator with relevant experience to join the Signal Intelligence Operations (SIO) team within the Sensors & Effectors department in Sydney. The role will be focused on coordinating & executing the capture & processing of high-quality RF datasets to support DroneShield’s proprietary detection & disruption algorithms. This role will suit someone with excellent attention to detail who loves simplifying complex plans into simple visuals and wants to develop their career in a fast-moving ASX-listed defence technology company.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

  • This role will involve day- or week-long trips to the field to coordinate & execute field data capture missions. This role is primarily office-based (4+ days per week).
  • Own end-to-end RF data operations. Given a data deliverable - called a “data contract” - from the SIO Team Lead, you’ll be accountable for coordinating the logistics to deliver the dataset.
  • Schedule all field data capture bookings on behalf of the SIO team. You will often be project managing 10+ concurrent data contracts at a time.
  • Drive accountability for all operational dependencies. Working closely with the Pilot, Operations & Legal teams, you’ll ensure all drone assets, bookings & frequency compliance assessments are ready prior to the field mission.
  • Execute field data capture. You will not only plan data contracts, you will also execute them. We will train you to record & process specialised RF datasets from scratch.
  • Continuously improve field processes. You will improve the efficiency of our field processes month-over-month, driving best practice into the SIO team.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • BS degree in an Engineering or IT-related field or equivalent technical experience. You’re comfortable working close to hardware, sensors, software systems and raw data.
  • 2+ years of professional experience.
  • Strong planning and organisation skills. When planning future field missions, you can “see into the future”, identifying all the ways the mission may fail & mitigating those logistical risks.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills. You can distill complex field testing schedules into a clear plan that you will present to the wider team.
  • Systems thinking & expectation management. You’ll be receiving requests for datasets from multiple R&D teams & it’s important to set achievable goals and raise risks early.
  • Ideal: Experience in R&D or testing data capture from field operations.
  • Ideal: Proficiency in Linux and processing data via the terminal.

Who You Are

  • First and foremost, you are results-driven and reliable. You take full ownership of outcomes and follow up without being chased.
  • You have a can-do attitude and thrive in fast-paced, hands-on environments.
  • You are uncompromising on quality, ensuring every dataset delivered to internal teams is of the highest standard.
  • You are a disciplined capacity planner, able to prioritise competing demands and commit to realistic, achievable timelines.
