The role is based at DroneShield’s central Sydney headquarters. Overseas on-the-ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Netherlands, Denmark, Mexico and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries worldwide.

About the role

The company is seeking a strong Backend Engineer with relevant experience to join the development team in Sydney.

The role is primarily focused on the development of DroneShield product DroneSentry-C2.
 Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations 

• Contribute to the development of our C2 product to meet the demanding operational requirements in real-world deployments aligned to the long-term product vision. 
• Design and develop features from conceptualisation to realisation working closely with the global software engineering team.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience 
• More than 3 years’ experience in software development 
• Design and implement Golang microservices for sensor ingestion, decoding, fusion, and event streaming (or relevant typed languages like C++/Rust).
• Experience working with two or more from the following: distributed and parallel systems, Unix/Linux environments, web application development, developing large software systems, and/or security software development. 
• Experience developing microservices infrastructure is ideal 
• Familiar with Docker, Postman, GitLab, AWS is favourable
• You are experienced working with modern infrastructure and tools 
• You are comfortable running your software in Linux environments 
• You know and care about sound engineering practices like continuous delivery, defensive programming and automated testing. 
• You’re familiar with designing and building distributed and scalable systems 
• An abundance of ambition and motivation to grow the company and compete with the big players in the industry
