Position Description

FlexGen is currently searching for a Software Sales Engineer to partner with our business development group and our technical support team to support project development, pre-sale and engineering services for FlexGen’s HybridOS energy management system suite of products. The individual will take ownership of technical pre-sale topics and coordinate with the Technology and Product teams.  


Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Cross functional internal collaboration - work closely with product managers, and software engineers to understand the features of full scope software offering, the use cases for each and their respective value propositions
  • Participate in reviewing and submitting technical responses 
  • Assist Business Development with technical aspects of customer engagement
  • Provide technical support contract negotiation 
  • Travel to relevant industry trade shows to meet and consult with customers and the partner community 
  • Customer Engagement & Support: Work closely with customers to understand their operational needs, technical requirements, and project goals 
  • Proposal Assistance: Provide technical input for proposals, RFP responses, and ROI assessments to ensure alignment with customer needs and business objectives 

Position Requirements:

  • An associate' degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or similar 
  • A fast learner willing to build processes and standardization to scale for exponential growth 
  • At least five years of industrial or power industry software and controls experience 
  • Understanding of BESS operation, components, and applications 
  • Familiarity with grid-scale energy storage use cases, such as peak shaving, frequency regulation, energy arbitrage, and renewable integration 
  • Experience with energy management systems (EMS), SCADA, or similar control software 
  • Ability to create and understand technical specifications, proposals, and user manuals 
  • Excellent active listening and customer service skills  
  • Capability to present technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders 
  • A relevant certificate or license is advantageous 
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel 
  • The ability to pass a background and toxicology screen 
  • Located in Durham, North Carolina, or east coast preferred; Open to remote work depending on the level of qualification and flexibility of daily schedule
