Capital Projects Accountant

About Boston Legacy FC

Boston Legacy FC (the “Club”) is Boston’s new professional women’s soccer team, which will begin play in the National Women’s Soccer League in March of 2026. We are dedicated to building a championship-caliber organization on and off the pitch. We are passionate about advancing women’s sports, investing in our local community, and redefining the future of professional soccer. As a startup club with a big vision, we’re building from the ground up—and looking for entrepreneurial team members who want to be part of something extraordinary.

The Role

The Capital Projects Accountant will support the financial execution and integrity of Boston Legacy FC’s major facility build-outs and operations. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role responsible for construction accounts payable, capital project accounting, and financial controls across complex, multi-vendor developments.

You will work closely with the Controller, external vendors, construction partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy, discipline, and transparency across large-scale capital projects.

This role is ideal for an accountant who thrives in structured complexity, understands construction financial workflows, and wants exposure to meaningful, high-impact projects early in their career.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Project Accounting

  • Track capital expenditures across multiple large-scale projects, ensuring proper capitalization and cost classification
  • Maintain detailed project cost reports, budget-to-actual analyses, and variance tracking
  • Support month-end close related to construction and fixed assets, including accruals and reconciliations

Construction Accounts Payable

  • Process high-volume, high-value construction AP, including invoices, lien waivers, pay applications, and vendor compliance documentation
  • Review and validate invoices against contracts, purchase orders, budgets, and approved change orders
  • Manage payment schedules and ensure timely, accurate disbursements aligned with project milestones

Other Finance & Accounting Support

  • Monthly reconciliations as needed by the Finance team, including Construction in Progress, Cash, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Assistance with the monthly close as needed including research and journal entries.
  • Maintaining systems, and creating efficiencies within the monthly close process

Controls, Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, approval workflows, and documentation standards
  • Maintain organized audit-ready records for construction and capital expenditures
  • Partner with external accountants, auditors, and advisors as needed

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate closely with Finance, Operations, Legal, and external construction partners
  • Support financial reporting and ad-hoc analysis for senior leadership and ownership
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of construction accounting processes and systems

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, with exposure to construction accounting, capital projects, or large-scale AP strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of construction AP, project cost tracking, and capital expenditure accounting
  • Experience using Yardi, Intacct, and Ramp
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and complex documentation
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel; experience with construction accounting software a plus
  • Clear communicator who is comfortable working across internal teams and external partners
  • High integrity and strong ownership mindset—this work matters
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving, high-accountability environments
  • Organized, process-driven, and unflappable under complexity
  • Curious and eager to learn from senior finance leadership and major infrastructure projects
