OVERVIEW OF ROLE 

Our production team is accountable for the production, assembly and testing of complex electronics equipment. Being proficient in the assembly of electronic products, our Assembly Technician’s form part of a highly skilled and knowledgeable team of Technicians and Engineers that deliver Advanced Navigation’s industry leading products.



ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Operating fibre Optic coil winding equipment and handling fibre optic materials 
  • Winding fibre optical coils for high grade navigation devices
  • Assemble, calibrate and test electronic and optics assemblies
  • Prepare and splice polarisation maintaining optical fibre
  • Use adhesives to bond and seal products
  • Work closely with the Engineering R&D team to develop new optical assembly processes and techniques
  • Assist with the development and documentation of processes and procedures
  • Assist with management of inventory and optical and electrical components
  • Perform simple maintenance and service of optical assembly equipment
  • Pack semi-finished goods for safe transport and process quality inspection of products

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Experience with high value products in a precision assembly or manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years experience in optical assembly
  • Ability to read and work with mechanical drawings and work instructions
  • Sufficient visual and mechanical dexterity for inspecting, handling, cleaning and splicing small optics and components
  • General computer skills - experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, processing software and general lab equipment
  • A focus on high quality, precision and attention to detail
  • A willingness to learn the products in a speciality industry
  • Strong communication skills within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Self motivation and a positive attitude
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Strong knowledge of WHS practices
  • An electronic or optical qualification or similar
  • Experience working with PM Fibre
  • Problem solving or forensic analysis skills relating to process quality assurance 
  • Knowledge of laser safety and standards
  • Experience with high accuracy fusion splicers
