The Details:

  • Support regulatory compliance oversight across Palomar’s expanding portfolio of programs and operating jurisdictions.
  • Conduct internal compliance reviews and program oversight activities to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, underwriting guidelines, and company policies.
  • Assist with oversight of program administrators and distribution partners by performing compliance reviews, identifying potential regulatory risks, and recommending corrective actions where appropriate.
  • Manage and coordinate responses to consumer complaints and regulatory inquiries, including correspondence with Departments of Insurance and other regulatory authorities.
  • Provide regulatory advisory support to internal stakeholders, including underwriting, product development, claims, and operations, regarding regulatory requirements, compliance risks, and operational practices.
  • Monitor regulatory developments across jurisdictions and communicate potential impacts to business leaders and relevant stakeholders.
  • Support regulatory reporting and documentation processes to ensure timely and accurate submissions to regulators to include oversight of statistical reporting and program buildout.
  • Assist in maintaining internal compliance controls, procedures, and governance processes to support the company’s compliance framework.
  • Work collaboratively with Compliance leadership to enhance compliance monitoring activities, reporting metrics, and oversight processes.
  • Maintain documentation and records necessary to support regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance through proactive engagement with internal teams and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 What will you do:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in an insurance compliance environment, with preferred exposure to both Admitted and Excess & Surplus (E&S) insurance markets.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Advanced degree preferred (MBA, Master’s in Risk Management, etc.) Flexible if experience and requirements are met.
  • Compliance and Industry Certifications, such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Associate in Regulation and Compliance (ARC), Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), and other relevant credentials a plus.
  • Experience supporting regulatory inquiries, compliance reviews, or program oversight within the insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of state insurance regulatory frameworks, including interactions with Departments of Insurance.
  • Experience reviewing operational processes or conducting compliance audits within a regulated environment.
  • Ability to analyze regulatory requirements and apply them to operation business practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when preparing regulatory responses, compliance documentation and audit reports.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple regulatory & internal deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and partners.

CCPA Job Applicant:

 

Pay Range: $110,000-$165,000 + Bonus Potential & Participation in our Competitive Long-Term Incentive (LTI) Program.

 

The above pay range is for all US-based roles based on function and level, benchmarked against companies of similar size and scope. To be compliant with local legislation as well as provide greater transparency to candidates, we disclose salary ranges on all job postings regardless of the desired job location. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and the opportunity for annual long-term incentive stock grants. In addition, we offer a highly competitive benefits package.
