About the role

As Plant Manager, you will serve as the primary point of contact for the customer, attending monthly (or weekly, during mobilization) calls, supporting technicians with on-site issue resolution, and providing monthly plant performance summaries to the engineering team. You will be responsible for scheduling and planning work to reduce downtime and ensure team safety, as well as assisting customers with budgeting and issue resolution estimates.

In this leadership role, you will directly manage technicians, overseeing responsibilities such as PTO approvals, performance feedback, and disciplinary actions in coordination with HR. You will play an active role in technician development by identifying training needs, encouraging cross-training to build core strengths, and supporting succession planning in partnership with the Safety and Training teams.


You will also be responsible for reviewing and approving timecards in line with your 10% overtime budget and optimizing work schedules when appropriate. Each month, you will conduct final reviews of work orders in Softwrench, ensuring out-of-scope activities are correctly coded as billable. You may be granted approval authority for RAMP expenses up to $500, with accountability for proper coding and spend tracking.

Additionally, you will collaborate with leadership to identify and address operational inefficiencies and support process improvements, while leading by example and setting the professional standard for your team.


Responsibilities

  • Operates site in a manner that promotes the highest levels of safety, compliance and productivity. 
  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with RNWBL Policies, plant agreements, applicable laws, safety standards and good housekeeping practices. 
  • Coordinates the overall logistics and activities for the project in respect to turbine and field repairs, maintenance and other work required. 
  • Participates in daily preparation as it relates to manpower, special project and maintenance of the site and all related equipment. 
  • Supervises the work of Turbine Technicians and Project Subcontractors to stimulate maximum efficiency. 
  • Strategically established working schedules for turbine and balance of plant maintenance, repairs and any or other contractual obligations during low wind periods while maximizing production and minimizing down time for yield contracts. 
  • Ensures that all daily work reports for the project sites are submitted in a timely manner as well as correct. 
  • Ensures efficient and economical utilization of materials, responsible for improvement of methods and elimination of wasteful practices within departments. 
  • Takes proper and judicious disciplinary measures when required. 
  • Prepare monthly and annual reports as required for the plant to internal and external agencies. 
  • Insures the appropriate use and proper care of assets, company vehicles, tools, and equipment. 
  • Oversee technician hiring, time off and timecard approvals, and career development. 
  • Identify training needs and close skill gaps by cross-training team members to build core strengths. 
  • Train and mentor developing technicians in electrical safety, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting. 
  • Support technicians and assist with project management at site. 
  • Serve as the front-line communicator to customers, site leaders, and teams. 
  • Assist customers with annual budgeting for improvements, repairs, and campaigns. 
  • Join weekly/monthly customer performance calls and provide monthly site summaries to Performance Engineering. 
  • Schedule and plan work to minimize downtime and ensure team safety. 
  • Manage CMMS work order reviews for accuracy and out-of-scope billing. 
  • Track inspections, schedules, and parts consumption through CMMS. 
  • Partner with leadership to identify and improve inefficiencies, processes, and gaps. 
  • Lead by example—set the standard for safety, quality, and excellence. 
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve offline turbine issues, restoring them to service. 
  • Identify turbine performance issues and develop plans for corrective action, ideally during scheduled maintenance. 
  • Ensure all equipment operates with only approved solutions, hardware, and software. 
  • Perform quality checks to confirm technician and contractor work meets standards. 
  • Coordinate large corrective work with contractors as needed. 
  • Champion a strong EHS culture, utilizing stop-work authority when necessary. 
  • Work with customers to plan and schedule outages. 
  • Follow all NERC, NFPA70E, OSHA, company, and customer regulations. 
  • Document service activity and parts use with digital reporting systems. Respond as needed for outages and other repairs critical to the operation and reliability of the plant.   
  • Must become familiar with all contracts related to the operation of the plant and ensure compliance.   
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Wind Energy Generation and leadership. 
  • Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree is a plus or related experience 
  • Experience working on the Vestas V100 / V110 turbine model preferred.  
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the company. 
  • Experience leading investigations into equipment failures. 
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to lead projects, assign tasks, prioritize activities, and interface with customers. 
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and provide final deliverables (including as-builts and test results). 
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NERC, and NFPA70E standards. 
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and mentoring skills. 
  • Must have a safety mindset and be able to ensure a safe working environment for those employed at the plant. 
  • Proficient in use of personal computers (i.e., Windows environment, word processing and spreadsheet applications). 
  •     Ability to read and understand schematics, prints, and diagrams. 
  •     Turbine and balance of plant troubleshooting expertise preferred. 
  •     High voltage switching & inspection experience preferred. 
  •     Inventory control experience preferred. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. 
  • Ability to interact effectively with upper management, peer and subordinate personnel. 
  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of others, thereby coordinating project work efficiency. 
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated use of initiative, common sense approach. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Ability to manage employees and/or contractors to maintain and repair all equipment and property owned or leased by the project LLC or holding company.  

Additional Requirements 

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. 
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check. 
  • Willing to work overtime and travel for work/training. 
  • Able to climb ladders, work at heights, stand for extended periods, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in variable outdoor conditions.
