About the role

The Deputy Director is an operational leader who owns day-to-day delivery and supports people management across multiple projects. This role is primarily focused on execution and operational stability while also supporting long-range strategy. The deputy will act in the Director’s absence and have limited delegated approval authority that will develop over time. They must be capable of representing the company externally and handling client interactions as needed.

This position is remote-first but may require travel for deployments based on operational needs. Deployments can extend for multiple months and involve working long hours in dynamic, fast-paced emergency environments. Candidates should be prepared for the possibility of intensive work periods. 12-hour days and extended weekly schedules when supporting field operations are not uncommon.

What you'll do

  • Own operational delivery across concurrent projects (Salesforce, Power BI, and data workflows), ensuring tasks, risks, and timelines are managed.
  • Support people management for ~10 direct reports (workload balancing, coaching, performance cadence).
  • Establish and maintain delivery governance: templates, meeting cadences, dashboards, and service level agreements.
  • Serve as an external point of contact for clients and partners when required; clearly communicate technical and delivery status.
  • Be available for short-notice travel and emergency deployments.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to increase team capability and delivery consistency.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical delivery and leadership with demonstrated success managing teams and multiple projects.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Salesforce and Power BI (or equivalent BI tools); able to review data structures, troubleshoot flows, and validate analytics.
  • Strong client relations skills and comfort representing the company externally.
  • Practical understanding of data workflows and how analytics support operational decision-making.
  • Experience with public sector or emergency management work is strongly preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and deploy on short notice.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.; able to pass background checks. Describe the experience and attributes of the ideal candidate

  • Eligibility to work in the United States. Must be located in the United States.
