About the role

BlueWave has an immediate opening for a Director of Solar Development who resides in and has the ability to travel throughout California. This is an opportunity to join an established, high-performing team that has been leading the market in innovation and high-quality execution for a decade. Strong written and verbal communication skills, a working understanding of the development process, attention to detail, creativity and thoroughness are essential to success in this position. 

What you'll do

  • Identify crucial developments and trends that affect the viability of the Company’s current and future CA community solar project development pipeline
  • Support the Company’s culture of teamwork and collaboration by organizing and participating in Company and volunteer events
  • Be, or be willing to become, knowledgeable in dual use community solar project development
  • Support project acquisitions
  • Support real estate negotiations as carried out by the larger Development and Site Acquisition teams
  • Facilitate relationships with external consultants
  • Oversee project permitting, incentive application and tax abatement activities
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as grid integration, legal, offtake, engineering, construction, operations and government affairs
  • Represent the company at regional industry association meetings
  • Oversee and take responsibility for project budgets and schedules

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (engineering concentration or real estate experience desirable), MBA a strong plus.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of previous experience in energy project development required – preferably in community or utility scale solar projects.
  • Solid understanding of the development process of State of California community and/or utility scale solar projects
  • Ability to deal with local community dynamics, as well as negotiate effectively with landowners and other stakeholders.
  • Technical understanding of solar projects
  • Excellent project management skills with a highly organized approach

Compensation will be influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, job-related knowledge, skills, education, licenses/certifications, essential job duties and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
