Mechatronics Test Engineer

About Mytra

We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.

Mechatronics Test Engineer

Role Overview

Mytra's Systems Integration and Test team is looking for a mechatronics-oriented engineer to integrate and test robotics hardware at scale.

As a mechatronics test engineer, you'll design comprehensive testing frameworks for complex electro-mechanical systems, working directly with actuators, motor controllers, sensors, and PCBAs. You'll collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers to push hardware performance limits and establish manufacturing validation processes.

This role requires on-site presence at our Brisbane, CA headquarters.

Example Projects

  • Design end-to-end validation tests for sensors, actuators, and mechatronics components, creating system-level and sub-assembly tests that establish performance benchmarks and failure thresholds.
  • Architect automated test stations to scale characterization, data collection, and test of mechatronic systems.
  • Perform full-stack debugging of complex systems, analyzing logs, interpreting sensor data, and collaborating with specialist engineers on targeted failure analysis.
  • Contribute to testing software infrastructure in areas of software automation, data analysis tools, and system optimization.

The Ideal Candidate

  • You have 2+ years of experience building or testing complex mechatronics systems in production or development environments.
  • You possess strong expertise with core robotics technologies including actuation systems, communications protocols, sensing technologies, and complex wiring.
  • You demonstrate proven hands-on capability in building, debugging, and reworking electro-mechanical systems.
  • You're proficient in Python and able to write high-performing code in accordance with best practices.
  • You excel at working in fast-paced development environments with evolving requirements and technical uncertainty.
  • You can effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse engineering audiences.
  • You're excited about working on an immature project, growing together, and shaping the future of the company.
  • Uncertainty isn't scary, and you're willing to realize mistakes and pivot.
  • Openness, inquisitiveness, and constant ambition are important values.

A Final Note

You’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality. We work closely and collaboratively at Mytra - No one takes on projects alone. We seek people who are eager to work together, learn new things, and bring unique perspectives.

The pay range for this role is:

135,000 - 155,000 USD per year (Mytra, Inc.)
