Staff Software Engineer (Simulation)

About Mytra

We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.

Role Overview

Mytra’s Software team is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to build the next generation of in-house simulation and modeling of the Mytra system.

As a software engineer you’ll collaborate with teammates from our simulation & modeling team, our software team, and partners across the company to build a simulation capability bespoke to Mytra’s unique design. We expect you to be a strong software engineer who can apply past experiences building large scale, complex systems to an entirely new area. Perhaps you have never set foot in a warehouse, or worked in a robotics company before – but you have a history of building reliable, scalable and ever-evolving software products and thrive in an environment where you are encouraged to iterate quickly, get feedback, and build upon what you have.

We utilize common technologies regularly used in the SaaS world to move fast and learn quickly. While no specific language or framework is required to apply, we are using React, Python, Go and Rust in various existing projects.

Example Projects

  • Create and maintain an in-house simulation and modeling system
  • Utilize software engineering principles to build a suite of products that can be relied upon, evolved, and collaborated on.
  • Engage with users (internal) for feedback and incorporate this into revisions of the product to ensure we are serving their needs
  • Contribute to and make use of our internal component library to fast-track development and expand the utility of the components you create

The Ideal Candidate

  • You’ve applied your expertise and skillset at a number of different types of company, to build varying software products.
  • You’re excited to learn that your target users are people you can message anytime for direct feedback, and that they are keen to do so.
  • You bias towards “right tool for the job” over any strongly held opinions that a language, framework or technology is “the best”.
  • You've frequently sought out what to work on based on the problem to be solved.
  • You work well with others, preferring to collaborate on a problem as opposed to being a “lone wolf” that the team doesn’t hear from for days
  • You are heavily invested in the team around you and the overall goals we are seeking to solve, but not deeply attached to a specific implementation you’ve worked on
  • You are excited about working on an immature project, growing together, and shaping the future of the company.
  • Uncertainty isn’t scary, and you’re willing to realize mistakes and pivot.
  • Openness, inquisitiveness, and constant ambition are important values.

A Final Note

You’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality. We work closely and collaboratively at Mytra - No one takes on projects alone. We seek people who are eager to work together, learn new things, and bring unique perspectives.

*Mytra is not currently utilizing third-party agencies.
