We have a passionate management team and committed investors who believe in our patented technology and overall mission to profoundly advance biomedical research and accelerate the discovery of life-saving treatments.
Role Description:
The Systems Integration & Sustaining Engineer/Scientist I is an entry-level, hands-on role focused on ensuring our spatial biology platform works reliably end-to-end—from new builds under development to on-market systems used by customers.
This role blends:
Systems integration and verification for new instrument, software, and reagent releases.
Sustaining engineering support for commercial products, including issue investigation, performance improvement, and field feedback incorporation.
You will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Software, Assay Development, Quality, Service, and Operations teams to test systems, investigate failures, and help maintain high performance, reliability, and data quality across the installed base.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, execute, and refine system-level integration and verification tests for automated imaging instruments, software, and assay workflows.
• Design test methods to evaluate instrument performance, assay robustness, and data quality, progressing toward independent test development within the first year.
• Perform system setup, configuration, calibration, and acceptance testing, including hands-on execution during early ramp.
• Support design verification and release testing for new features, assays, and system configurations.
• Independently verify design changes and fixes across complete workflows prior to release.
• Investigate, reproduce, and diagnose field and internal issues using production-equivalent systems.
• Perform root cause analysis across hardware, software, reagents, and user workflows, with coaching and increasing ownership over time.
• Analyze structured test and field data to identify trends, assess risk, and support technical decisions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of system performance, reliability, and usability through data-driven insights.
• Create and maintain clear test documentation, issue tracking, and configuration records in compliance with quality systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Software, Assay Development, Service, Manufacturing, and Operations teams.
• Communicate test results, risks, and recommendations clearly to technical and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Support internal testing, pilot deployments, and controlled customer installations as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in bioengineering, systems engineering, chemistry, biology, or a related technical field.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or PhD with up to 1 year of post-graduate or industry experience.
• Demonstrated ability to design experiments or test methods and draw conclusions from data.
• Experience working with complex, multidisciplinary systems involving hardware, software, and biological workflows.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments, automation platforms, or engineered systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems independently using structured problem-solving approaches.
• Familiarity with verification, sustaining engineering, or quality processes in a commercial or regulated environment is a plus.
• Working knowledge of wet lab techniques and assay workflows.
• Experience analyzing experimental or test data using tools such as R, Python, MATLAB, or similar.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and technical ambiguity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting results and collaborating across teams.
